Kinja'd!!!

Saw one very much like this driving slowing through downtown when I was out at lunch. He had the stupid-loud exhaust mode off, but gave it a little blip coming to a stop and then rolled off slowly. Still sounded great, and damn, it does look great. This is the first time I’ve had these kinds of feelings for a Mustang... Might have to have mine with stripe delete, or maybe in the traditional Shelby blue & white. Anyone heard of major issues owners are running into with these?

This generation is the first that I’ve found myself actually admiring. Partly because its finally IRS, but the flat plane crank engine just sounds amazing. I don’t care that the ZL1 or whatever is faster, I’m not good enough to take advantage of that anyways.

First of all, the design is just beautiful. Classic proportions. I find myself staring at every one of these, regardless of what’s under the hood. Add that motor, and damn.

Every video you watch reviewing this thing, the smiles and laughter say it all.

I really need to test drive one. It’ll be a while before the GT350s are reasonably priced, but I want one.

Agreed, this is the one to have. I was getting donuts one day when we were moving into the new house a couple weeks ago (Oppo-review of RSaldana residence 2.0 coming soon. Mostly so I can list all the issues I have found with it). And lo and behold I wind up following one for about 5-6 miles, he didn’t even get rowdy with it but just the normal stop and go was enough to drive another nail into the want coffin.

I love Mustangs, but I just can’t picture myself behind the wheel of one.

Shelby’s are freakin beautiful. Avalanche Gray is easily my favorite color....sucks that it was discontinued.

I was considering a GT350 before I got the 997...but Ford dealer markups were just nuts..

DO IT. Everytime I consider an M2 this little devil comes into my head suggesting a GT350

I honestly won’t be that surprised if I end up in one in a year or two.

Yeah, I’d probably be buying used in a year or two. I think you did alright! =)

I used to be that way with Mustangs (before this gen), and I’m still that way with Camaros (despite how amazing the SS 1LE is). There are some jackets I just won’t wear...

Eagerly awaiting it. I hit this lull every so often (even weeks after a track event!) where I think about replacing the Z4M given its need for a suspension rebuild this fall, paint correction and a VANOS overhaul sometime next year.

My mom has one, absolutely incredible car. I want it so bad. And don’t even get me started on the noise. The biggest thing to worry about these cars though are the oil changes, the oil filter has to be torqued correctly or they will come off. It’s important to find a good Ford dealer who understands and will take care of you. And then there’s the front splitter, some techs don’t install it properly, so the splitter comes off and gets eaten up. That happened to my mom, and even after that happened they forgot to install a few screws on the new one. Both of these issues have become very uncommon as the car has been out for awhile, but it’s good to be aware.

But besides that it’s been an amazing car. To put it in perspective, my Dad’s RS3 has upgraded suspension, supercharged to 670HP and he still admits he likes the Shelby more. Everything is just so right about it.

Thankfully my E90 has been relatively low maintenance. I’ve had some not insignificant repair bills, but nothing too onerous in my mind, considering what it is. My most expensive failure to date (fuel pump) was brought on by my own stupidity. I’m on the original clutch and neither the throttle actuators nor rod bearings have blown up yet [knocks wood], so there could be some decent costs in my future with this car (repair or preventive replacement). Considering how much enjoyment I still get from my car, and how little, relatively, I’d get if I sold it (miles & rock chips), the plan for now is to keep her running and well-maintained up until the point that it makes very little sense to do so. I’m actually hoping that I can eventually turn the car into a more dedicated fun/track car, and just keep it in the stable long-term.

What do you mean discontinued? I still see Avalanche Gray on the MY17 configurator...

“My mom drives a GT350...” Haha!

Good to hear that the issues are fairly minor so far. And that’s quite the stable your folks have!

They seem reliable. The only issues I’ve seen on the forums were overheating at the track on cars w/o the track package (which includes extra cooling). However, Ford has made the track pkg standard on all GT350 models in the meantime, so that’s no longer a problem!

Oh, maybe I got my wires crossed...

Yep...it was competition orange that was discontinued. That makes me sad too, it was one of the best colors.

That’s right! The track pkg (which also includes those magnetic shocks) is standard from MY17 onwards.

Always sad to see a vibrant or interesting color no longer being offered... Let’s hope they don’t pull a fast one on us and drop AG for MY18!

Agreed - in hindsight the bills have not been extravagant and only in shorter intervals due to my usage as a DD and track car.

There really is nothing in a similar price providing the same thrills and lack of depreciation. I need to get over the cosmetic issues and just enjoy the drive until a cosmetic overhaul is really necessary (value up) or BMW outlaw.

Yup! Just look closely at the cars of the guys at the track that are there the most often (and having the most fun). These cars are meant to be used, and hard! True love is using them as intended, not keeping them in aesthetically perfect condition.

A GT350 seems much more special to me than an M2. And I don’t see how the M2's powertrain could hold a candle to the GT350. I autocrossed a GT350R, the motor/trans/exhaust combo is unworldly.

Kinja'd!!! "B_dol" (bdolan40)
09/14/2017 at 11:54, STARS: 0

Agreed - from a powerplant standpoint there is no comparison. From a car that I need to spend time inside, drive to work, take on road trips, etc. the M2 is a far superior place.

...it has a TechArt VarioPlus suspension. omg. $7400 coilovers..
