She had me. She was asking me about her present, and said, “Maybe I should visit Oppositelock and see what you’ve been up to around there.”
CODE RED! EMERGENCY! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!
I was like, “What? Why would you want to do that? We just talk about dumb car stuff! Nothingtoseetherehaha!”
Gulp. I was hosed. So I told her she could have it if she wanted, and off we went.
SHE LOVED IT!
She was so excited, and said it was the best present she ever got. She drov it home, amd said it was the most fun she had in the longest time. She said she could not stop smiling. She wants restoration done for Toyotafest next year and is eager for rallys. She wants to use it for winter adventures with Toby.
And that, my friends is the tale of an Oppo wife. I am a lucky idiot, and my wife loves old Japanese cars. She rules, and I am happy she liked her present. Good thing I did not buy the steering wheel or Work Wheels, because she wants to keep it stock.
Did I mention that she rules? Has my wife been a secret enthusiast all along?

This is prime oppo, and you are a lucky man.
I once dated a woman who was also a car enthusiast. He father was a former mechanic who raiser her to do all her own maintenance and repairs, so she did her oil changes in her apartment parking lot. I taught her to drive stick in my Miata so that she could drive her father’s classic Chevelle when she went home for Christmas. Not sticking out her particular crazy is one of the only things I regret.
