I just moved out west and the “nearest” region to me is the Rio Grande region. Unfortunately my autocross car had to stay in NY and my Mini isn’t quite up to the task of taking on an autocross yet. Therefore I’ve been trying to get into contact with some members to see if there is anyone willing to let me co-drive with them for an event or two but haven’t really even made contact with a person. Naturally I’m turning to Oppo, any help is appreciated!

My STX 318ti for your time.

That is a fantastic green, could only be improved with some style 32s.

It really is a great color, its nice and dark when its not in the light but in the sun its got a great metallic shine. Unfortunately the only new wheels it will be getting are whichever are the lightest.

I was one for many, many years before going club racing and moving out of Abq. The message board on thier website, rgrscca.com, might be a good place to start. They also have a fairly active Facebook page.

In terms of specific people I know who still actively autocross with them, you might look up Steve Nelson. He runs a Miata in STS, and is a super nice guy. He might be able to point you in the right direction.

It looks like the next event is this weekend at G lot. It might be worthwhile to stop buy and meet some folks if nothing else. If there, Tom Reynolds might be another person who could point you in the right direction. He is a former RE who still has the pulse of the region.

I just posted on the Facebook group and hope to hear something from that. I can’t seem to actually get to message boards to work but that’s where I went first.

I’m tempted to go to the event this weekend but it’s still a 3 hour drive for me and that’s a bit of a stretch to just meet people, especially since I do have other things I really need to get done.

Thanks for all of the info and names!

Depending on where you are on the Rez, their events at McGee park in Farmington might be closer to you. That location is also an order of magnitude bigger than the UNM g-lot. We ran a national prosolo event at McGee park for a number of years.

Yes, Farmington is a little less than 2 hours away. I would still imagine that the UNM lot is still bigger than what I’m used to running on, haha.
