Kinja'd!!!

I kept the old sunset plates.

OPPO POLL:

I am half tempted to just take it home and give it to my wife. I may not have the patience for this surprise. Do I give it to her and have her join the project? Or do as much as I can and give it on her birthday?

I am torn, because I want to share my excitement, and she is my best friend.

How many months until her birthday?

I would try to be patient, especially if you know she would like it.

It has to be a surprise though. Here is how I might do it were it my wife. I’d take her to a nice cafe for dinner. The car is parked so we walk by it. I make sure we stop and remark how cool it is (opponauts do that, so it’s not too weird). I start a conversation about what we would do to it. Then, when we come to a hypothetical agreement, I’d hand her the keys and say, “well that’s what we’ll do then.” Bam. Big surprise out of nowhere, and we get to work on it together.

If you can hold it do so. But also you can give her the choice, mention you got her Birthday present already. Mention a figure, say $2,000 give or take. That should get her intrigued. Maybe mention anytime you work on it you are working on her present. That would drive my wife nuts.

OR Put a FOR SALE sign on it and then take her to look at it...... but that could be a disaster if she says she doesn’t like it.

I’d wait, but mention it. That would drive my wife nuts and she’d have to know.

Good things come to those who wait, (And I’ll bet she will be damn impressed you kept it a secret the whole time.) Unless... you think she will be mad - then tell her now to give you the opportunity to make it up to her on her birthday.

Am I the only one who likes the Sunset plates?

That retro plate is awesome. If I still lived in Maine I’d use the old set of orange lobster plate I have laying around. Idk what year they stopped making them, but they remind me of childhood.

I love the old sunset plates.

Keep it, use the time before now and the birthday to clean it up, and make it a present. Detail it spotlessly, maybe even deal with the paint issues. You’ll either get joy or a divorce.
