The GXP version. It’s for sale, too. $10,500 with 75k. These things really seem to hold their value when I look around, GXP or no.

Yup. I paid $20k for my original 2006, they’re still trading hands for more than $10k it seems. Not bad for a 12 year old car.

I was thinking this would be a good pick up for $5k summer car but I can’t find one for less than $10k.

It funny because I have read several articles about how GM messed up the car, and that it could have been so much better with a better interior, better engine for the application, etc. Can’t have been that much of a dog though, with being around for so long and holding so much value.

I know. You go on to eBay or wherever, and it’s surprising how much they command, even with high miles.

Well it’s rare, and in a certain way historically important, it’s one of the last Pontiacs.

But quite frankly it was thrown together quickly, can’t really fault them. Original orange coupe concept in 2002, convertible concept in 2003, and retail production start of 2005. Probably a last minute greenlight and they used whatever parts they have off the shelf.

My car was an early production, probably even one of the first ones destined for Canada. Was fixing my door handle the other day, there were still handwritten marks adjusting panels and mounts, they were still tweaking production at that time.

Haha, didn’t know that. But, is your car reasonably well built? Is it fun to drive? That’s what counts, right?

It is kind of a personal taste thing. Like, I think the chrome wheels look good, whereas some may call them gaudy.

Everyone loves to puke on the plastic interior, your typical early-2000 GM interior, but it didn’t matter to me. I prefer driving is over my BMW.

Cost me an arm and leg in a way, it was an irrational impromptu purchase at the time, but I don’t regret it.

If you think they hold their value well, you should check out the GXP Coupes!

It’s certainly not worse inside than the plastic in my Rx-8 of the same vintage. That’s just what they were using then, I think.

Get a silver one and it’ll be body coloured lol.

Or get a coupe... but good luck finding one under 30k (yes, coupes are trading hands for that much.)

You ain’t kiddin’. Although, the coupe has very little pull with me. In my mind, this car is soft top or GTFAC.

When I mean bad it’s 1999 Grand Am bad. Comparing to my friend’s 2006 Mazda3, the Mazda feels like a Mercedes.

I’m not really a convertible person, and I don’t really like the roofline on the coupe. It just always bugs me when I see when. Like why didn’t you make it body colored gm.

Yes, it is, but there is something about a convertible top that can’t be beat. I tried a Miata RF, and it just didn’t feel as open air, ya know?

I’d think 260/260 for a 3,000lb car is perfectly adequate. However, the gearhead in me would probably want to goose it up to 300hp. Because round numbers.
