Anyone buy A-1 Cardon parts? Their air springs are less than half OE air springs, are they junk?

We don’t have much opportunity to use them on Euro stuff, but we’ve had good luck with their axles and other components. Look into Arnott air springs too, they’ve been great for us.

Their stuff has been fine when I’ve used it.

Their brake calipers are junk! I think it might have something to do with the rebuilding process. All I know for sure though is I have had to replace both of my rear calipers twice. I had replaced the 12 year old OEM calipers with the A1 units and they have not lasted more than a year each. Replaced under warranty both times but Id rather the parts just not break.

Reman parts? They seem to be hit-and-miss. I’ve never had any trouble with them, but I’ve seen other guys absolutely fed up after having to deal with “another” shittily-rebuilt component. Personally, I’ve had worse luck with Dorman.

The arnotts were about 50% more but there was more feedback on them. This would be for a lexus so no euro, but same principle.

Yes, A-1 cardone parts are junk.

The Arnotts are made with re-manufactured pistons and sleeves from reputable companies that often make the OEM sleeve. Essentially the reason why you want sleeve from a reputable manufacturer is durability. Sleeves look easy to make, but it’s actually a very complex process.

these would be new parts, not reman.

Ok, I actually didn’t realize that Cardone made new parts. I just found out that they use specific sub- brands for different product lines, and unfortunately I never really paid that much attention to which ones I was getting. So apparently “A1 Cardone” refers to remanufactured parts, “Cardone Ultra” is their “premium” reman line, and “Cardone Select” means new. I wonder if that might explain the differing experiences among buyers.

Come to think of it, lots of manufacturers offer multiple grades of parts, like Raybestos and Fram do. Fram’s a good example because their “top shelf” filters are supposedly really good, but their cheapo filters have really hurt their reputation.
