My rental car has less horsepower than my Miata

Kinja'd!!!

I’ve got a 2017 Nissan Sentra for a week while my Miata is getting some body work done. Interesting fact, this car only has 130hp meaning that it has 12 less hp than my Miata! Not to mention the extra few hundred pounds it is lugging along as well...

But anyways its just basic transportation to get me to work and back and I guess its better than a Spark? Since it has a CVT, the only way to drive it is with my foot on the floor at all times. So at least that makes it decently quick enough. Seats are stupidly uncomfortable but to be expected. The lack of bolstering is hilarious to me since I have gotten used to dailying my bucket seat.

I will make sure to try and hoon it at some point and take some pictures of the turd. First goal is to get it to do a burnout on the way home.

Had a rental Altima for the same reason. Miserable lump of steel. My heart goes out to you.

I had a Nissan Note (relative of the Versa) a couple months ago, and it had the worst seats and seating position I have experienced in a long time. They just don’t seem to give a fuck about the actual human being who has drive their cars.

At least I dont have to drive it 700 miles round trip like I did the Versa I had once. This car is the same damn thing just bigger. I have NO idea why a Sentra is considered a midsize upgrade at most rental places. It beats taking an uber to work every day though at least.

I dont understand who these seats are designed for... I had a Note too once, for 700 miles! Its a problem when I miss the comfort of my Miata racing seat:

One of the best normal rentals I’ve had. The Fusion was quite nice and decidedly fast. I didnt like how quiet it was with the windows up and how much buffeting there was with the windows down, but that is generally the case with most new cars. Either way, I very much like Fords newer stuff.

Second favorite normal rental was a Ford Fiesta 4 cyl base model hatchback. Thing was fun as hell for an economy car.

My wife has a Rogue and loves it. I can’t stand driving that ugly hulk of disasterous design. It has all the driving engagement of a pile of dog poop. And looks about the same.

We don’t get the 1.0T in the Fusion, though, and it’s mandatory manual in the Fiesta and Focus, so it’s very unlikely to be in an American rental fleet.

I dont quite get how people can love cars that just feel like shit inside and look terrible as well. I dont think every car needs to be some performance king but it at least needs to be as comfortable and well put together as a mid 90s Honda. Cost cut in the engine performance, back seat comfort, and technology packages, not in front seat comfort and hard plastics.

Ahh yeah not the 1.0 Ecoboost, but rather the 1.5 ecoboost. It was plenty of oomph to go around.

But I like my 2009 Accent? :(

Kinja'd!!!

It’s 2400lbs vs. the Sentra’s 2800lbs though....although the Accent only has 110hp! A 5-speed helps though... :P

Having less power is okay when the car is as small as that gen accent. In manual, it’s ought to be actually fun and tossable. This dumb Nissan is just a big barge with a boat anchor transmission.

To rental car companies, everything is a class size bigger than the industry definition. I think it’s to justify higher prices. But yes, working car is better than no car or having someone else drive.

My 1992 Sentra SE-R only had 140hp, but God that car was fun. Someone should stick Nissan execs in an early 90's SE-R and show them what fun, light cars they used to make. Hell, I bet Nissan is full of young execs who have never even been in anything older than 2000.

I mean safety and emissions standards make the days of old impossible. But just stick them in a current Gen Mazda 3 or a Fiesta and then make the car more like that. Obviously the Nissan is cheaper than those options but it doesn’t mean the little things that add up to user experience can’t be done on the same budget.

I thought the 1.5 was miserable. In stop and go traffic I got 6 mpg less than in my tuned FiST driving it less aggressively. And the FiST isn’t that effecient. It’s so slow too.
