First: this dealer is in Barstow. That’s already 2 strikes. The 3rd are the fact that this is pretty much a 60 thousand dollar Type R and that they consider it used because it has 97 miles.

Being used/new has nothing to do with mileage. It’s whether or not a title has been issued for the car.

Oh this again? I hate this idea of a loophole. It happened with gamestop and video games a little while ago. In essence, gamestop agreed to sell brand new copies of a low production game for 60$. But what they did was make brand new games, but sell them as “used” and since it was used they can sell them at “market price” and sell them at 90$ instead. According to all contracts, the new copies were sold at 60$. All was fair and good. But they made a bunch to sell as used, and then sold those at the “market price” per their own standard practices.

I’ll bet 5$ that’s what happened here - they ‘titled’ it to a friend or family member for MSRP, drove it for a weekend, and can now sell it for some BS ‘market price’. Technically, they did sell it at MSRP...But now it’s a used car and all bets are off.

Being a gamer I remember when that happened at Gamestop and I thought thats probably exactly what happened here.

All of it. I don’t understand the words you typed as a whole but individually they all make sense to me. I don’t know why you’re outraged at this dealer.

You really dont know why? A 60 thousand dollar Honda Civic.. Bullshit reasoning like they are in the business of making money blah blah aside, thats price gouging.

wait people will pay 60000$ US for a Honda Civic? Really? That’s like 75000$ CND.

That’s Rob Ford Level crack pipe

In one sentence - it is highly likely someone at or close to the dealership put a few miles on the car, had it titled and is now selling it as “used” at well over MSRP but in reality, its all a scheme to sell it for a markup while telling honda they sold it at MSRP when new.

Free-market, hurr durr.

Honestly, I don’t think they actually want to sell it at the moment. Its a halo car, it draws people into showrooms and then they can push the tire kickers into a new Civic Hatch Sport. And if one yahoo decides he would really like a Honda Civic over a 2 year old M3, then the dealer makes a boatload of cash.

I’m not defending it at all, I think its really really stupid, and when production catches up with demand and the novelty wears off, dealers like these are gonna look really silly trying to sell a “used” Type R for this much, when you can go get a new one for MSRP. Kinda like what happened with the Focus RS.

I think you’re correct cause this dealer in the Dallas area is doing the same thing. Whereas this dealer in Houston is the first I’ve personally seen listed new at MSRP.

Really crappy of those certain dealers to do this.

Except the Dallas dealership is not a Honda dealer — it’s actually a used car dealer, isn’t it?

I dont remember, but this doesnt mention the game specifically I dont think, but this article is a good read and one of many into the bullshit pricing practices of Gamestop: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwihy-mgj57WAhVjsVQKHTE2C1UQFggxMAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fkotaku.com%2Fextreme-gamestop-pricing-leaves-some-fans-calling-scam-1108627828&usg=AFQjCNHQ4jhrmQzpV9mD6Vd3i7ouT38Jkw

Ah good point. I didn’t look too closely. However the car has 23 miles, which is could honestly still be considered new, much newer than most of their inventory. It still seems pretty shady, as I doubt traded their car in that quickly.
