Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous design ...

Kinja'd!!!

But isn’t there some Camaro as you go towards the rear end?

You’re not wrong. I’d actually chalk this up as more of a compliment to the Camaro than a ding against the Ferrari. Also further proof that a roofline is a critical piece of a vehicle’s lines and chopping it off makes it(in my opinion) easier to make a decent looking car but much, much harder to make a gorgeous one.

My thoughts exactly

And again - no slur on either design, but I’d probably offer a slightly different opinion standing next to the Portofino and seeing it in the metal, as it were.

A tall rear end really wrecks a convertible’s side profile.

The Camaro is easily more plain-looking due to having a tall front end to match. As a convertible, it looks like a modernised El Camino.

Oh, I’m sure. Ferraris tend to have a certain presence in person that won’t come across in a picture.. But compare the Ferrari with the roof up against even a Camaro coupe(the Camaro ragtop isn’t even worth the comparison): The design just comes alive.

I realize this is not an apples-to-apples comparison, but that’s what I’d drive if I could drive whatever (new) car I wanted. But not in red... Probably in white:

There aren’t hardly any high-end cars that I get excited about, but I’d love to have a CTS-V to wring out and enjoy.

Actually we made a deal with GM, it is a Camaro with a restyled body.

This Ferrari is a good example of why I typically don’t like convertibles. Taking the roof off ruins the lines of the car.

It’s got that overhang thing on the front end that the Camaro has, but it’s a styling cue GM uses. Cousin is a GM big shot and gets one every 6 months as his company car ....

Still, in this instance Ferrari did a bit better job than Chevy. But my days of wanting a convertible are over - if I had to buy a car tomorrow, give me a Volvo wagon of some sort.

Ferrari Portofino? More like Ferrari Pornofino!

It’s not as unique looking as I’d hope, but the naming fun works for this one.

Wouldn’t that be nice? I didn’t wanna get snarky, but I sort of love to thumb my nose at Ferrari because Ferrari. If I were going to take an interest in a high-end coupe, I might take a look at Aston Martin, I suppose, but Ferrari is so stuck up . They have these cars and the whole time, they’re basically kiss my ass and if you kiss it enough, then maybe we’ll sell you one.

All of this is from the guy whose “nicest” car is a 2012 Nissan Versa with a 1.8L pencil sharpener for an engine and $3,700 total invested and he rolled around in the driveway all summer replacing the engine. And his other four cars combined wouldn’t fetch $10,000 on Craigslist and have well over 200k miles on their clocks... So of all the people out there unqualified to smash on Ferrari, I am a standout. Full disclosure.

Ferrari seem to be incredible dicks about ordering and using their cars - and there were one or more cars that they kept for you and would take them to a track if you wanted to drive them. And they also shut out automotive journalists for telling the truth once in a while when they put a foot wrong. Fuck ‘em.

I think if I were looking for that sort of car I’d get a Gallardo hardtop. Audi influenced, 6M possible, and it’s just regular enough to be a DD.

Ferrari did a better job with it though. The haunches don’t seem unnecessarily tall and the crease right in front of it looks cleaner.

nowadays you see stupid SUV/CUV’s with lines like this though... I’m getting very tired of the “waistline crease” in between the wheels...

Kinja'd!!!

Like, you’re not fooling anyone and you’re just making shit more expensive and stealing interior room.... stop it! Seriously look up any SUV/CUV out now and I will eat my hat if it doesn’t have a waistline crease...
