Kinja'd!!!

I don’t remember much of what happened 16 years ago. I was in first grade then, and my mum had just walked me to the bus stop when the first plane hit.

When you’re that young you haven’t got much of an idea of the severity of what goes on the world or the larger picture. The episodic lifestyle of coming home every day and eating dinner while watching Brian Williams talk about “the war on terror” for over a decade really does mold a mind at how there is so much more than ones self and how broken this world is.

It’s also imperative to never forget the past as painful as it may be. Without it, we can never move ahead as a society, country, or even as an individual.

When I was a kid we were terrified that Russia was going to Nuke the US. The thing about that is that it is a definable treat. We know how the shit is going to go down and we know how it’s going to happen and who is responsible for it.

Terrorism is a much more grey area with more unknowns and far more frightening in my opinion. I guess this is why they call it terrorism.
