Kinja'd!!!

Ground stop in Atlanta due to 50 MPH gusts. Was headed to UT Austin for a recruiting event. That might not be happening.

Edit: we launched!

Better get there this week. The kids will be too depressed after Texas loses to USC on Saturday.

1. Deplane and call for rental car

2. Rent something interesting and drive to Austin

3. Write a review for Oppo

4. Profit? (or we will anyway)

But you guys could fly through a hurricane to get to Puerto Rico. SMH.

If you make it to UT, stop by the Dean’s office and say hi to Mrs. Ttyymmnn.

We actually talked about that. Road trip via New Orleans. We would have left on a Sunday, but no, we thought we could squeak through.

I don’t blame you when you’re traveling on business. Business+recreation road trips can be fun, but they require so much planning and then deciding which parts you can expense and what your wallet has to bear, etc. Plus, any shifts in weather could make the drive not much fun.

Should have come to IR this year, if you came Friday you could have seen us win a football game and the most full stadium since the Joe Tiller years!

Yeah, I was going to, but UT is a first time event and I am on the committee. I was going to see if it was worth while...and to have some Austin BBQ.

I took the pic right before they shut it down.

I saw a commercial for that game during this weekends games, playing up the fact that it’s a rematch of the 2006(?) Rose Bowl/NCAA Championship game, and that USC was “looking for revenge”. It’s really a shame, as that was one of the best football games I’ve ever watched (I hate USC, and am indifferent to Texas, it was just a really good game), and this “rematch” will come nowhere close to living up to the previous game, or the commercials billing.

Aw, but think how short the takeoff roll would be!

I understand the NCAA was thinking about implementing a mercy rule just for this game.

My claim to fame is that I once landed a Warrior in a 17-20 knot crosswind - and that tool full control deflection (really), and I was still drifting a little. I’ll pass on the 50 kt xwind component, unless you can put me in a Helio Courier - so I can just point the nose into the wind and takeoff across the runway.

If I may threadjack, a KAL A380 out of CDG squaked 7700 shortly after takeoff, and returned to CDG about 90 minutes later. I was wondering if A) you could tell me why it likely circled a few times over Compiégne first (burning off fuel?) and B) if you had any guesses as to what issues there might have been, considering it stayed below 10,000 feet and 300 kts for the duration.

Just guessing but either burning fuel or dumping. If they were staying below 10000 ft then they probably had a presurization issue. If I had to wager a guess maybe a problem with an outflow valve.
