Something tells me we are going to need some feel-good stories today.

A father, grieving over the suicide of his son while in police custody, started tinkering with cars as a form of therapy. Now he has opened a shop that is open to kids to come, work and stay off the street.

Home today - 9/11 (I was here for it), devastation down south, the almost certain destruction of my best friend’s sailboat in FL (on which I had many a great outing) and, for the cherry on the cake, reinjuring my back yesterday so I can barely move.

Rum. Dark rum. And ibuprofen.

lay flat on either bed or carpet and stretch.

back pain sucks badly.

painkillers are pointless.

need to strengthen the your back muscles, stretching is a good way of doing that.

Pretty cool, not many of those community/public garages in this part of the world.

And that was some mighty fine police work, reprehensible.

I’ve got a rotten back, and it routinely seizes up. I have learned that the single best thing for it is just to keep moving. Yes, it’s going to hurt, but moving helps the muscles to work out the kinks. Sitting still is deadly. And yes, ibuprofen sucks.

Austin’s finest. Did the link to the story come through? Or did Kinja eat it?

The link worked, although it seems to format differently now that the page has reloaded.

Teen’s theft, and subsequent death as he tried to access a gun while under arrest (whether accidental, intentional, or whatever) doesn’t exactly have me all broken up.

The boy was obviously troubled for reasons we don’t know. But his father chose to turn it into something positive instead of wallowing in grief and anger. Therein lie the feels.

Oh for sure, I would be devastated if that was my kid. Just expected cancer or some such.

While the kid sounds a bit troubled it is nice the father turned his grief and the grief of his son’s friends into something nice and productive for them all.
