But man, does he get through any of his lines on the first try? And people were complaining about Tanner’s acting ability.

And yet he is still the “best” part of Top Gear America. I don’t know if I can keep watching it. I haven’t enjoyed any of the episodes and I don’t think that they will get any better.

Top Gear USA was significantly better. The hosts have about as much chemistry as elementary school, and even individually they are ranked last among the Top Gear Presenters (I even liked the salesman guy who May replaced better than these guys).

Antron makes me think of a fan who won a “be a Top Gear presenter for a day”, only to find out that it’s just him, a fake Stig (with no personality or presence), the guy from some Lincoln commercials who isn’t Matthew McConaughey, and some British guy that must have gotten the job because Clarkson punched him and he kept his mouth shut.

The first episode was set up as if they’d been told “Create an episode that will make Dusty Ventures happy.” Baja Bugs in Baja and an off road test of the Raptor. The only way they could have made it more me is if they periodically stopped to do donuts in a rally car with “Dusty Ventures for President” on the side. And I still couldn’t enjoy it. The scripting was bad, the acting was bad, the editing was bad, there was nothing I saw that didn’t disappoint (they even left the better Bug behind!). I gave up after that one, because if I can’t enjoy the episode that’s made for me then I doubt I’ll enjoy any of the others.

I really hate the whole “throw a British guy in so we’ll have someone who sounds smart” thing. No, he doesn’t sound “smart,” he sounds stuffy and arrogant.
