Tonight I was looking for firebirds. i have an affinity for them and would love a good condition 4th gen LS1 Formula. Red or blue. With t tops and a 6 speed. Anyway I found some things. First,
this
could be an un-crashed version of my first car except it doesn’t have the Rallye II wheels. And of course it’s priced about 10x its actual value.
But the color, 6-cylinder Auto and interior are right.
Then I found this ...
I don’t rightly know what to say to that.

Love the fact they made it a T-top.
So it’s a rear air-cooled engine.
I hate it and love it at the same time

$2800 for a six cylinder late second gen six cylinder Firebird with a bad engine that’s been parked outside for a decade (or more)? Wow.

Welcome to collector car values! I am your host, Satan.
Boomers had to come for these eventually. I can’t say I didn’t overpay for mine. I don’t want to be a classic car guy anymore, it hurts too much.
That second one has a frankly impressive amount of work put in, so I will give it a pass.

Six-cylinder base model auto late 2nd generation... with an appearance package... and they took off the rallye II wheels. I’d give him $300 if it’s solid underneath and has a clean title.

In good, driver condition that’s a $1500 car.

who the fuck buys an F-body without T-tops? :p
No really though, that Firebird is overpriced. It’s only worth scrap value.
The Karmann-Ghia is cool tho

I don’t think they will.

I just do not understand why anyone would do that to a Karman Ghia. I mean, I really dig 2nd gen Firebirds as well as Ghia coupes ... but why combine them? It makes no sense!

With t-tops? Nooooooo.
I learned to drive stick in a 78 Trans Am w/t-tops. The ‘78 6.6 Pontiac engine now resides in my dad’s ‘86 TA, unfortunetly with a TH350 trans.
I’d love to rock a late 3rd or 4th gen for inexpensive V8 fun, but 1) no t-tops, please, nothing but trouble and flex, 2) not-rotten-in-the-butt examples are hard to find and 3) the not-expensive goes out the window if you want to make them handle well (starting without t’s helps, but not enough).
