The TVR Griffith is named after Jack Griffith, who was almost his own Carrol Shelby.
From Hemmings:
“Jack would later go into business with his son in the late 1970s and early 1980s converting Toyotas and AMCs into semi-convertibles. He would also be honored by TVR in 1992 with a model named after him, but his more lasting contribution to the automotive world since the end of Griffith production came when he co-founded the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance with Bill Warner in 1996. That show continues today, and this year paid tribute to Griffith with a rare display of all three Griffith models. Automodello, a model company, has also paid tribute to Jack in recent years by reproducing each model in scale form.”
See? The Sunchaser and the Griffith have the same heritage. Kinda. Sorta. Umm...ok.
