Looks like one of my favorite cars in the village is up for sale.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Our village has a fairly eclectic car taste. You can see this and more on my instagram CarsofFortLangley.

For only 3500ish people, we do alright.

I live in a town of 30,000. It’s not a super wealthy town, but I’m shocked at the amount of fancy and exotic cars. 3 911s and a 928 In my neighborhood, 3 458s, a Ford GT (the owner has a new one on the way too) a bunch of Ferrari California’s, an f430, a 308 GTSI, multiple maseratis, and I see a few Aston martins a month. I’ve ridden In a tesla roadster and 997 turbo too.

It’s a PNW thing. I used to live on an island with ~20k people and aside from the tech bros and executive types driving new Germans cars, and the people that drove through to get elsewhere (or did some kind of domestic work for these people), the cars were very interesting. The fact they last basically forever provided a garage and a little upkeep probably doesn’t hurt. It was cooler to drive something old/interesting than something new, in fact.

Our village is interesting. Former mill town, but now there is NO single family home under $1M.

Ours had the world headquarters of General Electric at one time, and my grandpa was a chief research chemist there. So there is a lot of old money from that, and a lot of them have s-class Benzes, and 7 series BMW’s. We have pretty low real estate prices here. My parents live in a 5000 sqft house, in one of the best neighborhoods in the entire county, and only paid 350k. Albeit it’s worth over 450k now. Maybe 2 houses here over $1M? A 10,000 square foot house might net you 800-900k.

It was the HQ for Borg-Warner Chemical, until GE acquired them in the 80s, both of my grandparents worked there, one as a factory worker, one as the research Chemistry head, both retired millionaires. Sadly, drugs and homelessness have taken over, and the boomers still have all the money. My parents are some of the wealthier people here that aren’t 60+, and we aren’t that wealthy.

Sadly $350K wouldn’t really snag you a condo in Metro Van where our village is (barely) located

Nice car, maybe a little dear even in appreciating looniebucks. Seeing how these were ignored for eons, I bet the current owner paid a pittance for it compared to the asking price.

Do all of the spotted cars live in the Fort? Or City or Township? Langley can be a little confusing, and as you know some of it is a huge area of sprawl and cardboard mcmansions that makes one feel like they are in TX or GA (but with more black money real estate speculation). Probably some interesting machines hiding out.

On my Instagram? The Fort only. Also 3 of the cars on there I either personally own/have owned and 2 others belong to my father!

Here, 35ok is a lot. As far as the top end, it’s really 500k. Crazy, especially Canadian real estate, which I find nuts.

Yeah Langley is odd, especially since the Township and City are each separate with their own MP, mayor and MLA.

If you found out the reason for the split in the 50's, it is the most petty bullshit ever.

Lol @ the “cardboard mcmansions that makes one feel like they are in TX or GA (but with more black money real estate speculation)“

So, so true. Especially in the Fort. It is really losing its character.

How many cars on the IG? If Ft Langley has 3500 people, assume maybe 1000 households. That’s a pretty crazy amount, if the cars live there and some of them not just over the border into Langley city etc. Or is there a huge car collection?

I find the valley feels very much like middle American areas, both in scenery (strip malls and tract houses) and sometimes in politics (and the houses cost 4x as much). Maybe a little more diversity, but there’s still a feel.

As the land gets redeveloped, the character will go. It has happened a lot in the lower mainland, and to the south, too. The Vancouver I loved when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s exists only in fragments and memory now.

There are a lot of unique cars in Fort Langley, BUT it is also a very popular spot for cruises and car clubs.

Oh, I thought all of your IG lived there, I misread.

I think I have driven my old car through that area in the distant past.
