We have a shortage of hurricane in the Charlotte area, but that hasn’t stopped people from clearing the shelves of drinking water in three stores I checked tonight. Also, there is a very high density of Florida plates on cars on the northbound interstate through Charlotte today.
As in one in three cars when it might normally be one in 40. I say this having traveled from Columbia, SC, to north of Charlotte during the day today and couldn’t help but track them.
Here comes Irma. Here comes some in law family from Florida to fill my normally quiet house with people and dogs for an indefinite period.

I live in Florida. There hasn’t been water on the shelfs or Gas in the stations since Tuesday.

When I have the money and space I’m gonna start doing a little prepping. Not like zombie apocalypse level, but just a week or two of supplies bc of panicking idiots.
We haven’t had gas in my area of San Antonio for almost a week now (actually exactly week) because of this bs.

I was in Charlotte for Hugo (1989) it crushed us. No power for a week and serious damage everywhere. As a kid it didn’t dawn on me how far inland we were and how strong the storm was. Here’s hoping to a safe go for everyone.

I just got back from Milwaukee to the Raleigh area and everyone at the gas station was talking about how barren Wal Mart is. I have a feeling getting any form of supplies is going to be a PITA tomorrow.

Had to go to 5 places in the Raleigh area to find a 5 gallon gas can yesterday. Don’t think we’re getting smacked to bad but left my gas cans up north when we moved to NC so had to repurchase.

A buddy of mine in the Raleigh area sent me a snap a couple nights ago of the Harris Teeter he works at with bare shelves where the water is. I’d heard the same about here on the Outer Banks but every day we’re looking better and better on the forecast.
