I sold this, after 4 years of ownership:

And bought one of these (haven’t taken any decent photos of mine yet):

Q50 3.0T... and I’m loving my decision so far. No, I did not post the images backwards!

It’s nice to be back in a car again that is actually somewhat convenient, comfortable, quiet, and subtle. I don’t have any complaints about the Q50, which I can’t honestly say about the C5Z, but that’s to be expected of a 14 year old car. The car is actually pretty quick too. I hope to add some personal touches in the next couple of weeks.

I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Test drove a lot of cars and determined I wanted 4 doors and something inconspicuous and this one far exceeded my expectations.

I’ll probably get a project in the next year or so, but the next big purchase will be a house, so I need to put that on hold for now.

Not exactly. Trade in far exceeded what I had left on my note and was pretty close to what I would have gotten private sale. The Q50 was new, so a decent bit more than the value of a C5Z. Payments and interest rate are less on the Q50 and I didn’t put any money down (aside from trade in difference).

The C5Z market has up-ticked a tiny bit in the last 6 months, but it’s still a 20-25k dollar car on a good day.

Only thing I would change about the Q50 is I wish they had made it in a manual. But at the same time, I often commute for more than an hour each way, so I’m pretty happy with the auto most days.

Very cool! I would love to hear more about how the 3.0t feels since Nissan does incredible things with their engines and I am a big fan of Infiniti models.

You’ve got a different engine than what’s in my G35 of course, but when I put in a CAI the difference in sound was unreal! It really let the VQ sing but was mostly pronounced at the higher RPMs. Down low it still felt civilized.

The VR30DDTT is what sold me on the car. Definitely underrated and lots of torque. It pulls pretty hard down low and in the mid range. Power is very linear 5k rpms to redline.

The VR30DDTT sounds a little bit like a very very muted GTR.

I intend on doing a simple ram air and maybe exhaust in the near future. “Ram air” will be limited to a Green or K&N filter secured in place without the remainder of the intake cover possibly. I don’t like the looks of any of the overpriced “CAI” kits that are out there right now. Might have to put something together myself.

I need to be careful to not dump too much into this one. That said, I didn’t even wait 24 hrs before placing some orders. lol

Something tells me in the long run the 4th mod option will cost you more than the other three combine. Mod carefully.
