No pictures of before.

Weather was starting to set in and wanted to get started on cleaning her.

I got on with the engine bay while Mike (from yesterday’s jaunt) got on with doing the wheels.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

The interior was filthy.

So after doing a thorough wash down, got her inside the owner’s workshop (I love getting the chance to go indoors to clean a car) to dry her off.

Mike and I got on with vacuuming the interior, then I let Mike get on with the rest of the inside, he wiped the inside down with an anti bacterial wipe, cleaned inside glass, re-vacuumed to remove any dislodged debris from the wipe down then inside glass redone and outside done, while I vacuumed and shampood the mats and boot liner.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Sealed the exterior and dressed the tyres and trim.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

The owner didn’t want to take it out the workshop as ‘it looks so good’ and said he’d take the Audi home instead.

The workshop lighting wasn’t great, sort of an orange glow really so the pictures aren’t much cop.

Thanks.

Also the plates were in the most part designed by someone on here. I think he’s a Canuck and was making Euro style U.S. State licence plate styles. It took some back and forward the the licence plate printers to get exactly as I wanted but came out perfect.

Pre-LCI (Facelift or life-cycle-initiative as BMW calls it) 535d! I drove one ages ago, it was a beast. The only time I got to experience the “limited to 155mph/250KPH” thing. It still wanted to go, but it just wasn’t allowed to.

Do you have automotive specific/safe disinfecting wipes, or are they just general wipes and then you go back over the surface with an auto product?

I ask because I just bought a [non-running] Jetta and want to scrub away the previous owners. People are disgusting.

I use a spray, sprayed onto a cloth and wiped over and then buffed.

Gtechniq I2 Triclean is, well, from their website:

I2 Tri-Clean is an all-surface interior product that cleans, kills 99.9% of bacteria and absorbs odours.

Developed in conjunction with the global leader in antibacterial and antimicrobial technology, BioCote®, I2 ensures surfaces remain hygienic and fresh, by actively reducing the number of microbes.

I2 also contains a true odour absorber, not an odour mask, that eliminates tacky residues that attract dirt.

It’s great for all surfaces (ie plastic, leather, fabric).

Would you say just use that product in the car once (or maybe a few times depending on the smell) and then switch over to material specific parts like dash/plastic cleaner sealer, leather cleaner and conditioner?

Kinja'd!!! "Svend" (svend)
09/08/2017 at 17:03, STARS: 1

Use the I2 Triclean for cleaning all interior surfaces. You needn’t necessarily apply anything else but you can apply Gtechniq L1 to leather which seals the leather, reduces abrasion, adds UV protection, reduces dye transferfrom denim, etc.... There is Gtechniq C6 Matte Dash for protecting interior plastics such as dashboards, centre consoles and door cards which again is a spray, wipe and buff off residue product which offers UV protection, restores a factory fresh lustre to the plastic surfaces for best results, apply every three months. Finally there is Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric which seals fabric surface and reduces stains by repelling water, etc....

Gtechniq products can be had from several places. I2 Triclean isn’t offered in the U.S. As far as I’m aware from any resellers but can be had direct from Gtechniq.

Up until recently, I’ve been using Chemical Guys (not sure if you have heard of them, or can get them), but recently switched over to Sonax Plastic Care for the interior and exterior plastics, which is effing amazing. And I think I have some of their leather care products too.

But those products do sound fantastic, especially the fabric one. Autogeek.net sells Gtechniq here, and a few other sites, but not Amazon itself, unfortunately. I’ve never seen a product that claims to disinfect before, and I am very intrigued and definitely want to get some.

Unfortunately Chemical Guys UK suffered the same thing as Gtechniq US, the franchisees are slow and sometimes non existent (Gtechniq took theirs back over and now post from the U.K.).

So for Chemical Guys it’s best to buy from a reseller. I’ve tried a couple of their products and was quite impressed with their microfibre wash.

Gtechniq themselves post to America.

Here is their U.S. page.

https://usa.gtechniq.com/

In the Gtechniq range for anti bacterial is

I2 Triclean, which is an all surface cleaner and anti bacteria spray.

Then with protectants and sealants for the interior.

C6 Matte Dash AB (there is a non anti bacterial for slightly less money called C6 Matte Dash, without the ‘AB’ on the end.

L1AB Leather Guard, (there is no non antibacterial) for the leather, spray on, wipe in and buff off.

Finally

I1AB Smart Fabric, (there is a non anti bacterial called I1, again without the ‘AB’ on the end). This provides a water resistant coating helping to prevent stains buy not allowing the substance to be absorbed into the fabric and also giving you time to wipe/soak it up with a cloth before it dries.

I am honestly less impressed with Chemical Guys with each new outside product I try. They are still good, especially for the price (at least here where they are down the street from me), but there are much better products out there.

My biggest problem with them, though, is that they have too many products that do the exact same thing. I think their strategy is to shoot fish in a barrel. Throw out as many products and more people will buy them.

They also have too much marketing bullshit in their product descriptions, and their videos. They also just re-brand a lot of crap. Like their foam cannon that they sell for $80; I can get the same thing from a re-seller for $20 on Amazon.

But, I will always use them because I love buying in bulk. I have shelves upon shelves of gallon Chemical Guy products.

If you ever see a Chemical Guys product you may want to try, send me a message and ask me about it, because there’s a good chance I have used it. And if there is a product they have that you want but can’t get there I am more than happy to send it to you.

_________________________________________________________________

Now, back to Gtechniq: do you use the AB products on your own car, or just the regular products since you know where your ass and hands have been? My cars never get dirty or gross, and I never have passengers, so I have to wonder if it’s worth it to myself to use the AB products all the time.

I’m pretty sure Adam’s Polish is just re-branded Chemical Guys because they do private label, and their products look identical.

And are Autoglym and Gyeon products you’ve used and didn’t like? I can’t really tell thanks to Kinja. I’ve thought about trying Autoglym for a few years but never bought anything. And Gyeon is starting to get big over here.

And I need some more advice for Gtechniq: do I get the W4 Citrus foam or the Gwash? I already have some CarPro coatings to put on the cars, and their specific coating wash, so I’m guessing I don’t need the GWash. And if you recommend the W4 wash, would you say to use it as a pre-wash foam lance rinse? I have a foam cannon and also a low-pressure foam gun.

And so far I have $360 of Gtechniq products in my cart, and that’s without any 5L jugs or coatings lol.

The two Adam’s I use are Gloss2Guard, fantastic sealant that leaves no smears on ark paint. Can be an arse to wipe with a damp cloth and butt with a dry one, trying to keep the damp cloth sufficiently damp is a trick. and the Invisible Undercarriage Spray. Looks great on wheel arches for taking pictures.

I hate Autoglym, the residue is a pain to remove, the tar remover is useless. The shampoo is about as good as it gets.

The W4 Citrus foam is a snow foam while Gwash is a shampoo. So if you go the snow foam route before shampooing you can get the W4. The Gwash is pretty much a must. It’s safe for wax, sealants and coatings. It leaves no residue or gloss enhancers behind and is super slick on the car. I use W4 and Gwash via the snow foam lance.

* Pressure rinse car

* snow foam with W4 or Gyeon foam.

* Walk round car getting into nooks and crannies with some degreaser sprayed onto a detailing brush.

* Pressure rinse

* Snow foam Gwash car shampoo onto the car

* Two Bucket Wash car

* Pressure rinse

* Open hose sheet the water off

* Either dry the car or dry with the use of a drying aid such as Gtechniq C2v3 or Gyeon Cure.

What items do you have in your cart?

The important/must have ones are:

Gtechniq

C6 Matte Dash, non AB $12.99

I2 Triclean, AB cleaner meaning you won’t necessarily need a dressing/sealant with AB. $17.95

T1 Tyres and Trim, tyre dressing, long lasting, $19.95

Gwash, 1 litre (you don’t need much, literally 15-25 ml in a bucket. $24.95

L1 leather Guard $17.95

Optional

W4 Citrus foam, 1 litre, $18.95

MF4, Diamond Sandwich towel. $13.95

Sub Total $126.69

Shipping to U.S. $39.91

Total $166.60

For a sealant that I think is better than Gtechniq C2v3, try Gyeon Cure. Less streaky and smeary on darker surfaces. Like the C2v3 it’s a drying aid, quick detailer and standalone sealant.

In case the link to my cart doesn’t work here’s a screenshot.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m also curious if you’ve used their G1-G5 products, also their G6 window cleaner. I want to try the G6 mainly because they claim it creates a positive charge that helps to repel dirt and dust. That would be very nice.

I also really want to try the C2 Liquid Crystal, partly for the drying aid, but also for the shine properties. I’m very fond of CarPro’s Reload which can be applied wet and provides the most exceptional shine I have ever seen, and also a ridiculously durable coating. I applied it yesterday and on my way home it rained but the car remained clean as the water just came clean off.

Here’s a video I took a couple washes ago after the Reload had been on for weeks and through several washes.

Kinja'd!!! "Svend" (svend)
09/11/2017 at 01:31, STARS: 0

Looks like you ticked every box on the list. Lol.

I’ve tried almost every product Gtechniq do. In fact Rob Earle has on a few occasions sent me pre-production products to evaluate before any changes need made and then put into production.

G1 is a glass coating that repels water and lasts about one to three years or 20,000 miles. It’s not affected by wiper wear. A 15ml bottle will do two cars. Three coats on the windscreen and one coat for the rest of the glass. It has to be applied properly with attention to ambient temperature. If applied incorrectly, needs to polished off with cerium oxide and a rayon pad.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The G2 in the kit is to wipe off residue in the G1 application process.

The G4 is a glass polish and the glass should be polished the best you can for the G1 kit to correctly bond to the glass.

G5 is similar in many ways to Rain-X but better in my opinion, it will add another more repelling surface to the G1 helping preserve the life of G1.

G6 glass cleaner contains no colours to make the liquid look pretty in the bottle like some do, contains to fragrance to make it smell better. Simply a great honest glass cleaner that cleans with no smears.

CarPro Reload and Gtechniq C2v3 get compared a lot as they offer almost identical properties with C2v3 being only slightly more glossy. Application and durability are the same.

In regards to the Gwash, rather than 500ml for $15, I’d probably go for the 1 litre at $25.

re: All Purpose Cleaner, this is pretty much the same as any you may already have.

re: Quick Detailer,, you can use the C2v3 diluted down to 2:1-3:1 as a Quick Detailer

I can’t see the video you refer to.

Kinja'd!!! "His Stigness" (HisStigness)
09/11/2017 at 02:16, STARS: 0

Pretty much lol. Those are all the things I’d like to try, or incorporate into a regular routine.

So do you Mayer G5 onto G1 for extra durability, or just use G5 on the other windows?

Reload and Crystal: I mainly got Reload for the durability aspect, also because I bought the CarPro coating, just haven’t had a chance to put it on yet. I’ll have to double check, but I don’t think they talk about diluting it and using as a drying aid. But I generally just use their EcH20 waterless wash as a drying aid since it also contains silica and is flipping amazing. But more gloss is always better.

I probably wasn’t going to get the quick detailer since my waterless washes serve the same purpose. But can it also be used as a drying aid?

And here’s a better to link to the video of Reload in action on the Golf.

You can layer the G5 over the G1 which will make the G1 last longer.

G5 will also repel water at a lower speed (repelling water speed properties will also be dependent on the angle (rake) of the windscreen.

You can always G5 the glass by itself, you’ll just need to re-apply it every three months or so (which you would if you had G1 on anyway).

Or G the windscreen, then top with G5, then do the other glass with G5.

You could use QD as a drying aid but just as easy to dilute C2v3.

According to Avi in Cyprus (he’s the head guy for CarPro), you don’t need to dilute Reload for a QD or drying aid but you can, 1:1 with water.

Only dilute the amount you want, when you want it.

Honestly I’ve used them for about six+ years.

Other than the C2v3, tar remover and fallout remover (I get on with the last two from AutoFinesse and Bilt Hamber so well, great products I always return to), I use pretty much only Gtechniq except the Gyeon where it’s replaced the C2v3.

Instead of the half litre Gwash, the larger 1 litre is more economical.

You’ll find the more you buy the cheaper it gets but also a little goes a long way. Like the 15ml of G1, that does two whole cars glasswork.

Click on ‘gtechrob’ and then click on ‘send a private message to gtechrob’. Give him your e-mail address and screen name (let him know what your wanting and how much you’ll be spending) then wait a day or two (if they are busy) for an e-mail or DW message.

((there is no discount on kits or sale items as they are already heavily discounted))

It’s long winded but they are a good group of people who do a great job and sell great products.
