Got the M3 stashed in a parking deck, topped off the 3 this morning, leaving work early today, the plant should be shut at least Monday, so I shouldn’t have to hurry back.. All I need to do it get some hurricane supplies.
If you’re wondering why I’m not taking my beloved M3, it’s because the distance between my apartment and my parents abode is at the limit of the M3's fuel range. If I get stuck in traffic and I can’t find fuel, there is a real chance I could run out. Plus, it’d have to sit outside at the parents. So I put it in a parking deck in an area that would have to get a 30'+ storm surge, and then get to the level the M3 is at. I’m not too worried about it. Hold on tight E203239.

16 gallon tank, maybe 20 mpg if I’m lucky. Should give me a 320 mile range.
In reality I get 18 mpg, the M3 is not full and no idea about gas availability, so that would give me a range of 288 miles. From my door to my parents door it’s 272 miles. Now if I get stuck in 3 hours of traffic, I’m fucked.

Honestly, I’m not, but I don’t want to stick around in Category 1/2 winds. The majority of buildings in Tallahassee have wooden structures and aren’t really good at dealing with hurricanes. I have family just outside Atlanta, so they invited me for the week.
The E90 will be fine. I have faith in that.

I’m sort of expecting to come home to a flooded garage. Expecting the worst, I live in an area we’d need like 25+ feet of storm surge. I’m moving everything that could get destroyed up to my second floor apartment. If that gets hit, oh well.
I’m fully expecting the M3 to make it, otherwise I’d be taking it.

I moved it last night to an interior wall of a parking garage, in an area that needs like a 30+ foot storm surge, and it’s not on the bottom level. I’m not really too concerned about it. If I was, then I’d be taking it with me. I hatched this plan a while ago. Figured out what I’d do with two cars, since I can’t drive them both at the same time.

I really hope your car is in a safe place. The storm surge from Katrina in Biloxi was 28' and they are predicting 20'+ for Irma. Add in wave action and the numbers get higher.

I’m on the fourth floor of a new apartment complex in front of campus, plus my windows are facing towards the center of the complex, so I’m hoping for the best. I’m locking all of my stuff that I’m not taking in the bathroom, which is large and relatively well protected. Hopefully your apartment isn’t hit too hard.

Man you should’ve seen the local parking garages around here after Harvey; all the top levels were FULL of cars. It was really truly bizarre looking. I wish I had gotten a picture, but it was hard to capture.
I’m glad you’re getting out of harms way. This is a storm with a cold blooded vengeance. This isn’t the storm to take a chance on.

Storm surge would have to get over 30 feet to get to the bottom level of the parking deck, which is 10 miles inland. So unless it gets above like 40 feet, I’m not worried.

Sadly, can’t mount a tow hitch on E9X M3 due to the placement of the exhaust.
I looked into it when I was thinking about getting an E9X M3 track car and towing it to the track with my E90. AKA right before I got laid off. I was going to reward myself if I had stuck it out through that company for another year.
