Lift kit is on the way. Snow gods, do your worst. General Altmaxx Arctic in 205/60-15, going on 15x8 wheels. Which means... Next summer I’ll probably get another set of wheels and go up to 225/45 tires! Oh and the local Firestone was practically giving the snow tires away at $50 per tire with free mounting. Don’t forget to shop locally.

If the fitment works out fine, next time I’ll try Nokian R2's in 205/65-15. Gotta get every extra bit of ride height for winter rallyx mode!

I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with swapping tires seasonally.

California? Went two years straight with just summer tires. We normally have snow between 0-5 days a year so it was pretty easy to just avoid driving those days (until midnight when you o one was on the roads...). They handled 20 degree temps like a champ.

Buuuuuut. I want to go up in the mountains and hoon in blizzards. So, winter tires!

California would be fun but no. AL

We actually did get an inch of snow and I had a lot of fun with that.

Why so wide? I go as narrow as possible for winter. They bite better.

Brake clearance mostly. I know that most stock wheels don’t fit, I’m hoping I can find a set of 14x7s that clear the calipers. Ideally I’d still have my stock Enkeis in winter rubber. I also don’t feel like buying new wheels right now, and 205 is as narrow as I want to go on 8 inch wide wheels

Ahh, you are paying to swap rubber. I’m from the land of winter wheels and tires and summer wheels and tires. Makes sense to me. Also, what brakes are you running? I’ll need to upgrade my 13B NA coupe (well put something on there, it has no brakes at all right now).

Little big brake kit from wilwood and flyin miata. I like it because it has slightly better than stock braking characteristics while being roughly 4 pounds lighter per corner of unsprung mass.... But if I did it over again I’d probably just go for a big brake kit. Price difference is negligible and there aren’t many pad options available to me

I was considering the 02 Sport brakes. You can get a kit with loaded calipers, brackets, pads, and rotors for decent cost.

Rub it in! Actually... I don’t need winter tires either. We normally get no snow, and my summers handle below freezing temps with zero issues.

I’m planning on actively looking for blizzards in the mountains though so.... Winter tires!

How’s the 13b coupe project coming along? I’m sure the sport brakes would work great, or even just the bigger brakes from the NA8..?

Slow and steady. I’ve been working on getting the rotary under the hood lately. I have the proper front cover, oil pan, and intake. Just need to do some cutting and fitting of the k member.
