Speaking of older cars that still look good,
I have an irrational love for the 1st generation Acura TSX.
It still looks modern and classy, despite being over 10 years old.

It’a subtle. If you don’t know what you’re looking at you’d have no idea that a 400hp V8 was lurking under the hood. I though that was the whole point of the M5, it’s understated. The 5 series is a luxury car, not meant to be as fast as the M5, but that’s the point and why it looks so right.
Look at the original M5, very little to tell it apart from a normal E28.

I think it’s one reason why I like the E90 so much. It’s subtle enough but at the same time there are so many fantastic details to differentiate from a normal 3.

Sometimes I regret buying my F30 instead of my friend’s E39, it’s just sitting under a tree most of the time these days. It looks exactly like that except it’s black.
But manual transmission tho...

Classic Alpinas are awesome.
Modern Alpinas are so lame though. They never seem to deliver the performance suggested by the quoted power figures and really don’t drive any better than BMW “M-Sport pack” versions of the models they’re based on.

I hold my hand up as someone who is not really into BMWs, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt but...I’ve never really got the E39 being a good looking car.
It’s not because I don’t like the understated thing as I rather like the E30 (and the E36 isn’t too bad either, although only really a looker from rear 3/4 view).
It’s not that I don’t really like any BMWs as I’m sort of jealous that Alfa never made anything quite as gorgeous as the E9 CSL (they made stuff that was just as good looking, but in a different way that doesn’t quite combine everything I like in one car like the CSL).
I’ve just always found the E39 to be ‘a car’. Well proportioned granted, but basically a slightly blobbier (and thus less sharp-looking) E36 with a similarly glum front end.
Completely open to persuasion on that opinion though :) which bit about the E39 is it that makes people go nuts about them? Is it a particular viewpoint like the E36? Is it the fact that it looks a little dull but can have a 400bhp V8? Is it just a personal thing?

I think the E46 M3 is much better looking. The E39 is clean and simple, but the E60 M5 is better looking imo. My friend had a blue E39 M5, really nice car, just not much to look at.

Yeah I agree that the E46 M3 looks better to me, although they’re both pretty close.
Not a fan of the E60 unfortunately. That one I get even less!
I do think they’ll all age really well though...

The pre-LCI ones don’t do anything for me, but I think the LCI E90s are very handsome cars.
