Kinja'd!!!

Not gonna lie. I’m nervous and haven’t been much help at work today thinking about family that are still on the island.

My uncle (through marriage) is staying put to watch over his place and my aunt’s travel agency a few blocks away. Although he’ll never admit it, I know he’s scared.

Good news is that Irma’s latest position is heading more northwest which means more rain instead of the ridiculous winds that hit the Virgin Islands and St Martin.

So keep a good thought open for my fellow ‘Ricans. Hopefully the island won’t get hit nearly as hard as Hugo .

I can’t even imagine. I’m sure they know how to deal with these storms.

To an extent, yes. There’s no shortage of heavy storms that have rolled through the island in the past 50 years, but I worry about how quickly things will return to normal.

According to my dad it’s raining in the mountains with little wind, and nary a drop on the south coast. My guess is that people around Fajardo will get a few palm tree branches knocked down and the rest of the island will ask about nothingburgers. Things in Vieques and (particularly) Culebra likely suck ass right now, though.
