Are well hidden, but are quite beautiful.

I’ve been on a gym kick lately, trying to save up some coins. Because nothing free goes well with this awesome hat:

I went with a brown theme for the one in the cemetery above, the one below I went for a pink theme.

I’m trying not to put REAL good ones in there, because as someone suggested, its better to have them knocked out after a while (10 hours for the max amount) for the daily coins.

The problem I have is either the gym locations are super popular and change teams every few hours and are always full, or are in the middle of NOWHERE or have raids going on when I have the time to put a ‘mon up in there.

Is this why there’s randomly large groups of people in the park near me all staring at their phones.

Its car related. Kinda. You should play.

I thought it was only eight hours for max coins?

Either way, the way we used to do it in the neighbourhood was to leave each other alone for the max time so people could get their coins. Then one dickhead showed up and ruined it for everyone. So me and my girlfriend are leaving their gyms alone and walking elsewhere in the area so that they don’t get their coins.

Damn Mystic players. Instinct for life.

Probably. Or parked in cars, moving slowly from stop to stop when the weather is not so nice.

I read 10, but then again I could be wrong. Mine are either in gyms for 10 minutes, or 24 hours it seems.

It’s especially annoying if it’s someone you just booted, too. It’s like, you got your coins for the day, how about you let me get some?

Gotta get those gym badges though. Surprisingly I’m near 500 hours already and I don’t even play much or try that hard.

I prefer Ingress. I started playing it to keep myself occupied while ferrying my kids around to various Pokestops. I like to think I’m participating in a rally or scavenger hunt.

The Pokestops are a sub-set of the Ingress portals. If you haven’t played Ingress, the idea is to take control of portals, then play connect-the-dots to create triangular fields. The connections cannot cross, so it’s best to plan ahead, taking out the other team’s portals and breaking their connections in order to make room for your own. While Ingress can be played solo, it is so much better when played as a team because it is possible to coordinate attacks, clear long lanes, and create Big Ass Fields (BAFs).

My trips to South Texas and Oklahoma this year opened up an opportunity to create a gigantic multi-state BAF. Since I was the one traveling, I ferried portal keys between the states. Through several weeks of planning and the coordinated efforts of over 20 people, we created a field that overlapped five states and several large cities, including Houston, Beaumont, Lake Charles, Shreveport, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge.

That one field generated over 5.6 million points, literally doubling my total. The best part was letting my son throw the second layer. That one move put him at the top of our regional leader board for over a week. After that, he dropped PoGo and started playing Ingress instead.

Damn, son.

I wish I had time to pick up another game. I just play the Pokemon to kill time. I never even played the games as a kid, nor watched the show, any of that.

:)

Killing time was how all this started. Now I’ll make a stop or two either on the way into work or on the way home. Since most of the portals I frequent are on the way, it’s nothing to stop for a couple of minutes. Every few weeks I will take one or both of the kids out for a couple of hours of play.

If any new players crop up in my area, that may change, but I spend way more time on Oppo than Ingress.

Ditto. I leave the game running while at work/home, as the GPS tends to bounce me around enough to get a few extra kilos on my eggs, and there’s a next in front of where I work that spawns 3 or 4 crappy pokemon every day, but other than that I try to grab a stop on my way to work for my streak, and recently I found a gym near a red light that I always seem to hit, so I throw someone in there if there’s room.

My kids are KINDA into it, and we’ll go out on the weekends, maybe do a raid.
