neither, I used magnesium boards, then sealed my joints with my kerdi membrane, then sealed the whole thing with liquid membrane

I’m right there with you. We have a new puppy at home and between it and the kids, my wife and I are exhausted. Add to that, while my wife is off work this week, the kids aren’t in school yet (thanks, Montessori preschool!) so she’s basically with two toddlers and a puppy all day... which sounds good except it’s rainy. On top of that, she lost a grandmother last week and her grandfather isn’t doing great either.
So I’m at work, but I’d rather be at home helping out, being with the kids, dogs, etc. and taking some of the pressure off my wife. Iiiiiiii don’t wanna work, either.

look at kerdi board systems, expensive, (I only bought the membrane for for the floor)
I used magnesium boards since they are 1/3 the price of cement boards. I might start the ceramic shower floor tonight after work if i’m not to tired.
total i have 7 60 pound bags of concrete to make my show base, pan and fill the hole in my concrete floor where i made my drain. been working on for over a week so far. I have to do my ceramic shower floor, then the whole wall around the shower, but that will be the same as the bathroom floor.
I’m going do a post of my bathroom building soon (once i’m finished....)
I should do a few posts of my whole house redo, it is really intense. all my nights, week-ends and vacations since 2014.

That’s amazing. I have some foundation work and mechanicals are all 100 years old, it’s due for a repipe and rewire, water, gas, and electric. Plus there’s only one bathroom and it’s tiny. A bit overwhelming cause I live alone.
