Sorry to spam fellow OPPOnauts, this will be the last post on the matter.

I got home and washed my car/waxed it but it looks like the damage is done. The vinyl stripes look done, and there is some bleach spotting on the paint in at least one area. It is very smoky/low light today, so I imagine I will see more with a detailing light or in direct sunlight.

Here’s a treat of what my neighbor treated my paint with along with their stupid art/garden wood.

Thanks for your help, support and input.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck. That sucks :(

Not much you can do about it either. Bleach is a nasty chemical and it is nearly impossible to undo the damage it does to a material. Best case scenario would be a repaint and re-stripe, I imagine.

I’m still amazed your neighbor got that much on your car. you’d hope they would realize at osme point that a) you had no idea they were spraying bleach everywhere and b) if there was even a chance of bleach getting sprayed everywhere, then they need to move.

Yeah, I think repaint/revinyl will be the best course of action. It is really sad, I put a massive amount of time/expense and effort into keeping the Fiesta in fantastic shape.

Yep. Living in a townhome without a garage sucks too.

Only if your neighbor is an inconsiderate shithead. He was literally inches from your vehicle doing that crap.

Wipe the whole area down with some isopropyl alcohol/panel wipe to remove any oils or residue so you can clearly see what your looking at.

It looks like ghosting in the clearcote. Try an area with a finishing polish, if no luck, try a more aggressive polish. You should find it’ll come out rather easily.

Tape off the vinyl area before polishing and once the area has been polished, give the vinyl a going over with a finishing polish.

I’m still sitting here wondering what “art” project requires spraying bleach.

I’d have the vinyl replaced and see if a pro can’t do something with the paint that won’t require a respray. The potential of a poor respray is too high and could hurt resale or trade value...when a polish may get it well enough that most can’t see it.

Yeah I’ve thought of this as well. I’d honestly prefer for the car not to be repainted. I will have to discuss with my adjuster to see what they are willing to pay for.

they will absolutely be in favor of trying to repair the finish. I’ve not come across this issue in my experience in the field. Only thing I can think of is it sat in the sun after exposure causing the damage. I once cleaned areas on a car with bleach that hit a 300 pound hooker before working on it and the bleach caused no damage to the paint...but I also didn’t let it sit. Maybe another chemical in the product is the culprit combined with sitting in the sun. GL.

The paint is OK, the stripe will likely need to be replaced. Insurance will cover it
