Maybe among 17-year-olds. Otherwise, my experience is that 90% of people who roll their eyes at Miatas are people who
have
owned cars before, and thought about them, and know that they sometimes experience rain, friends, or groceries, and would like to continue to experience those things without inconvenience.* I’ve driven Miatas, and it’s a lovely execution of a concept that has also been well executed by like 20 other cars between 1965 and the present, and poorly executed by several more, nearly all of which are more interesting. I can certainly see why people like Miatas (which perhaps takes me out of “people who knock Miatas”) but I’d never buy one (right back in again).
*And do not know the gospel of the Two Car Garage.

Is it commonly known that most vegans are gay? Do Miata owners always talk about Miatas more than other owners talk about their cars? There has to be enough of a connection with the other references for it to work.
