No, it’s a gross mess.

Kinja'd!!!

But is it a gross mess where the red Miata will fit when I sell the roof off it?

Kinja'd!!!

You bet it is.

I’ve allegedly got a guy coming tomorrow night to buy the soft top off it, so the garage will become the red car’s home...which is stupid because the black car is so much nicer, but the black car has a roof, so here we are.

Parts are inbound for red, so I really need to make this hellhole a workshop and not just a storage space. Once it’s clean, there’s going to be a TON of space because holy shit this car is tiny. My garage is small too, but this is easily the smallest car I’ve ever had in there. Makes a Fox Mustang look like a Lincoln Town Car.

Why are you selling the top off the red one?

LOL. This is my problem as well. Daily is nicer. But the Miata is a project car and doesn’t have it’s parts on.

Because the red one has high miles/rust and is going to basically just be a track car, albeit a registered one. Treasure Coast Miata sells a super lightweight chop top that would keep a little rain off me if I wanted to do that, but I basically refuse to drive my other one with the top up anyway.

Oh wow, look at that. Now that is a different solution. How does the rear mount?

And now I want a Miata

To the top of your roll bar...apparently some fabrication is required to get it right.

Also, you should absolutely get a Miata. My black one is one of my favorite cars I’ve ever driven. Though if you’re any taller than I am (5' 10 and fat as shit) I’d tell you to spend some time in one, I fit but only just and only really comfortably if I don’t wear shoes.

Clean by my standards :)

It’s actually excellent by mine as well. What’s kinda hilarious is how much stuff I’ve still got in the garage and how much space I still have in there. There’s junk on three sides of it still and I can walk all the way around the car because it’s so tiny.

Huh, that sounds like a pain in the ass.

I would rather finish my Austin Healey Sprite project than buy a Miata. I just want one lol. I do fit in the Sprite (6'2" and about 250 lbs) especially with the chinese buckets seats that mount nice and low and gets my head below the windshield frame and roll bar.

It’s not as bad as it sounds. I just throw my shoes in the trunk when I get in.

I bought some thin soled shoes and took off the dealer-option pedal pads, and that helped a lot...I’ve got wide feet, so with my work shoes my foot didn’t fit between the clutch pedal and the kick panel. But with the Pumas I bought it’s fine.

Also stupidly, I’ve got way more space in the red ‘91 than in the black ‘93, which I suspect is because the 91's seat is more worn. That car is getting a racing seat anyway so whatever, but I may have to take some foam out of the black car’s seat.

In the trunk? Not the passenger footwell?

My favorite driving shoes are Chuck High Tops. They provide plenty of feeling and they are thin yet quite supportive. And the high tops with the ankle support is really nice for long spirited drives.

You are probably right about the foam being smushed. If the red is getting a racing seat, then why not just put that seat in the black one?

Nah, my work shoes are old and...well, not something I want in the cabin near me, haha. These Pumas are kinda like lowtop Chucks, basic, narrow, thin soles. Plus they’re brand new so they can go in the footwell.

I’d swap the seats, but the black car has tan leather and the red car has black cloth. Removing foam from them is a pretty common mod for big guys, so I might do some of that over the winter.

It also just registered with me that you said you fit in a Sprite at 6 foot 2 250lbs. That legitimately impressed me...more room in that car than I thought there would be, I always assumed I wouldn’t fit in an MGB so I’ve never looked at them and a Sprite seemed like a forgone conclusion that I wouldn’t fit.

Oh yeah I understand not wanting old work shoes in the car with you if you don’t have to.

Well if it is a common mod, then I say go for it when you have time. Though personally I would hate to cut away at foam and possibly ruin it, but then again you can always just fix it I suppose. Any way to lower the frames?

Yeah I haven’t been in the car in a long time, but I remember it being fairly comfortable. They have pretty good footwells and they aren’t cramped around the pedals either. The original seats though were much too high to be comfortable. When I test fit the aftermarket buckets I sat at a proper height.I have an MKIV, which is basically the same as this MKIII MG Midget and Matt fits in it with another big guy and I am about the same size I think and the ower just for some perspective.
