Just an update on my Tuesday morning surprise.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
You can see below where the wax and clear coat have worn away. Car was 100% pristine before with no damage or imperfections at all.
I have a claim open with our government insurer, but it isn’t looking good for my little car.
The white stuff, by the way is foam. I moved it into a car wash for lighting reasons and then sprayed it down to attempt to mitigate the damage. I discovered the damage at 5:30am.
I did alter the light/contrast to demonstrate the damage. It is tough to see in photos otherwise due to the colour of the car and lighting.

Have you broke the news to your neighbor that he owes you now. Could you go against his home owner insurance?

I have not had a chance. It was 5:30am and I work about 50km away so had to get rolling.
I didn’t want to bang on their door like a serial killer, so I will tell them when I get home.
Ultimately, what’s done is done and my insurer will handle the first party claim and deal with them. I’m going to try and save what relationship I have with my neighbor.

I’d move now, people like that don’t change. You’d think that some schooling would explain the harshness of bleach and it’s negative effects but still people manage to do whatever the fuck your neighbor did.

I agree, and I am sure they will pay. But, I’d rather my insurer be the “big baddie” and not me.
Nothing like having the neighbor pissed off at me and door-dinging my car every day (shared driveway in a townhome)

That is something that your neighbor should absolutely be paying for. Go to him, get his insurance information and if you need to get a forth party out there (cops) do that. You bear no responsibility for the damage.

I’m usually a reasonable guy but I would have done the 5:30 bang. Not necessarily out of anger, but to send a strong WHAT THE FUCK message. I’ve never met your neighbor but I’ve met plenty of people that will try to weasel out of owning a fuck-up of this magnitude.
IMO this is a respray now.
