Inbred pickup/ATV driver deserves a sound beating, if not worse.

You’d love it around Seattle - few people honk, which makes a nice long rage honk all the more satisfying.

My conclusion is that all the shit drivers are transplants from the Midwest here in seattle.

They’re just not used to city driving, and then they pull stupid aggressive moves that don’t necessarily make sense because they think that’s what they’re supposed to do. It’s like watching a first time snowboarder go down a beginner slope.

No doubt that’s a part of it. Not just transplants, but transplants who are even more passive-aggressive than the locals. Californicators don’t do the roads any favors, either - they run on the aggressive side, but oblivious.

Newbies when it comes to driving in the first world are also something of a bottleneck.

Well, as a “Californicator”, I have to say that “aggressive” is a compliment.

People here leave too big of gaps on the road and worsen traffic, and then block the box on Mercer. Too many left lane hogs also create huge queues on 5 and 520. Plus, the drivers here can’t seemingly keep a constant pace here.

I agree that some are Californians are oblivious, but most of us are just accustomed to more competent drivers around us.

The first time immigrant driver issue is more an eastside issue than Seattle proper.

Those are big issues in the metro area - left lane hogs, box blockers, and timidity (shown by gaps - they are distracted and know it, that’s how they compensate for gazing off at a bird or being hypnotized by coffee). They also don’t grasp merging - either by failing to get up to speed, or not understanding a zipper.

Californicator is only meant as a minor insult :) I have driven in LA several times, and although the volume there is light years ahead of Seattle, people know how to keep moving. I never saw anything there that was really worse than here, which is saying something given the population difference. Rather than for driving ability, I like the term for CA people crowding up here and helping to destroy the real estate market.

I blame lax standards more than the newbie drivers themselves. For the most part (but maybe not for all, now that testing is privatized), they passed a test.

testing here is privatized?! WTF?

I’m fine with native Seattlite drivers BTW (being Pierce and King. I’m keeing my eye you Snohomish county people), since they are generally pretty courteous and pretty much stay out of the way of each other

I swear it’s always some driver with Missouri, Florida, Kansas, Texas, Ohio or Georgia plates that screws things up. Well, maybe them being from a Red state doesn’t help either....but who knows.

My commute involves driving on Mercer, so tourists also bother me.

No kidding. Licenses are issued by the state, of course, but testing is now handled by private schools. You pass the test at the school, take your certificate of completion to the state, and get a license. It’s been this way for motorcycles for years, but for some reason, I trust motorcycle instructors to do a more thorough job and maybe keep the quality up, as they are die-hards and take it personally. I have some doubts that every relatively recently licensed driver actually has the skills.

Native locals can be really slow, with poor lane discipline, but usually aren’t aggressive about it. Rather, courteous to a fault - just end up at a 4 way stop. Even a generation ago, it was a stereotype. I don’t know if they mix well with LA drivers who actually have somewhere to go, with a deadline. Driving in the south is definitely different, and not always in a good way.

I live in Bellevue, work in Bellevue, and seldom venture across the lake. I see some scary inept stuff, tourists too. I have a dashcam not just to catch scenery.

I would love some aggression on the Eastside. The lack of efficiency just kills me... Everyone stops with two car lengths in front of them at busy lights

Tonight for dinner I had a breaded chicken sandwich, steamed carrots, sweet potato fries, and butterscotch pudding (yay college). I had a Trump-colored plate.

exceeding the posted speed limit not once, not twice, but thrice, at speeds 4x or higher?

This isn’t going to end well for this weekend. Step out of the car and...hold on...wait til I finish cleaning myself.
