I made a phone call just now and the line rang and rang and rang when normally it’s answered on the first ring. I called an alternate number, same thing. WTF, where are these government employees?! I need data! Ooooooh, that’s right! It’s Labor Day and they’re off gallivanting in their backyards with their barbecue pits, probably.
Well, I’ve got some other work I can get done today. The legal documents and interviews with Very Important Officials™ can wait until tomorrow, I suppose. Meanwhile, I’m trying to shake off the case of the Mondays that had me calling closed government offices in the first place, sans coffee and sans lunch. It’s not going particularly well, considering I just stopped transcribing some notes in favor of posting on Oppo.

I’m a guberment employee, and I’m working today. In fact I’ve been here 14 months now and haven’t had a single holiday off yet.
Phones been ringing like crazy because people have decided that since they can’t get the customer service line to answer it means that all calls should go to the emergency line. No, your request to have the fire hydrant in front of your house repainted didn’t get elevated to emergency status because the customer service office has the day off.

I worked for a bit and will be grading tests once I’m good and drunk after BBQing. I’m gonna go fry up some potatoes then tinker with my Japanese cafe-ish bike a bit before bbqing.

Hang in there. Not exactly cafe racer but I saw a Yamaha XS-1 just like this one some time ago while going back home from work. The rider even had cool old school full face helmet to match the bike.

Thanks! I’m thinking about asking my wife to hand oaint some tattoo style flash art on it. I thought I’d be handing the keys over to the original owners son this summer, but he seems to have lost interest so it looks like I’ll be keeping it.

I got a vacation. Given that it was driving 1200 miles over the course of four days and really only having 2.5 days of vacation of the 4 given. I work with pigs on a bread to wean farm.
