Kinja'd!!!

Ford sells a (Canadian-built) Edge Vignale in Europe. Neat.

Kinja'd!!!

I’d drive one. And apparently the Australians are getting the Ford Endura, which is a seven seat version of the Edge meant to replace the Falcon-based Territory.

Kinja'd!!!

I’ve always thought the Edge was a bit weird looking in the back, but this kinda fixes it. I could genuinely see a 7-seat Edge coming to the rest of the world to compete against stuff like the Highlander and seven seat Santa Fe, probably replacing the slow sellling but cool looking Flex.

The Flex is getting kinda old. They might very well sell the new LWB Edge as a Flex, but either way, we probably will get the LWB 7-seat Edge.

Remember, Ford planned on selling us the 7-passenger C-Max and all variants of the C-Max, but they only pulled out at the very last minute because of jealous dealers that wanted to keep pushing the Flex. But that Flex is older now. So who knows?

They might offer it for sale but few buyers, especially the Vignale which is just another go at Ghia.

The Mondeo (Fusion) and S-Max are also offered in Vigniale trim in Euroland.

I’m interested to see how the Edge will do in the U.K. The SUV market here doesn’t look to Ford as other marques have established themselves and are the go to such as VW group (VW, Seat, Skoda, Audi, etc...) being probably the most dominant. With some being taken up by Vauxhall, Land Rover, etc... I can’t see it doing well to be honest.

Would buy one. I wonder why they don’t sell such nice versions here.

Can’t say I’ve seen many Edges (Vignale or not) in Europe. Only offered with diesel engines here. They sold 39 of them in my little country in the first 7 months of 2017 (versus 5549 Fiestas). It’s even being actively marketed in Germany, but not very successfully apparently. Probably too big while not having a prestigious badge.

Being a 5 seater there’s not much of a point to these; expensive to run (+ steep inflation), not suited for larger families and no prestige, so I’m not entirely sure what demographic it’s aimed at. A Mondeo wagon (Fusion) is just as large, drives better and with a similar engine costs 3/4 (pre-gasguzzler tax) of the Edge while offering better performance and better fuel economy.

A) Hideous.

B) The blue oval isn’t bourgeois.

Vignale trim pretty much makes the Edge an MKX. I believe if it were offered here (and it wont be) it would be either above or below Platinum.

I’d assume above or possibly equal.

It’s in a similar situation here in the states. The escape is nearly as big but cheaper and the explorer isn’t much more expensive for a bigger vehicle. Edge has middle child syndrome hard

We don’t get the explorer though, the edge is the biggest crossover Ford offers. But it costs about the same as a similar Audi Q5, while having higher depreciation. So, in the end, it’ll cost you more than the Audi. Given that context you’ll have to be a huge Ford fan to pick the edge.
