I can’t help but smile whenever I see a scooter or wheelchair on what seems like a thoroughly impractical car. Don’t let something like that get in the way of enjoying life if at all possible.

Too right. Like when you see a seriously old person in an MR2 or MX5 or Prelude or whatever. Maybe they never reached that Ferrari, but they’re not giving up on fun just yet.

I mentioned this on here once before. I used to coach a youth swim team, and one of the dads was in a wheelchair. One of the cars he drove regularly was an old Fiat Spyder. He actually had several cool vehicles but that was the least practical. Well, except maybe the motorcycle where he rode his chair into the sidecar and controlled it from there.

A friend of mine has befriended a number of older fellows who all own high performance cars. He organizes track days for them so he can give them rides in their own cars and show them what their cars can do. Without fail, the old codgers get out of the car grinning from ear to ear.
I told him his scheme will fall apart once he gives one of these old guys a heart attack.
