I Rarely Have Automotive Dreams

Much like I rarely have sex dreams anymore. Maybe due to the fact that I’m in my late 30s and have a satisfying sex life and I’m mostly satisfied with my automotive situation, these things don’t happen. In my early 20s I had a recurring, very realistic dream in which I lucked into buying an F355 Spyder for under $10 grand and was able to drive it a few days before selling it. I think that was a metaphor for something but I don’t know what.

This morning, just before I awoke, I dreamt my dad gave me a car. I don’t talk to my dad. I haven’t spoken to him since Christmas of 2014 when he drunk dialed me to brag about something. There is Something about his fragile ego, drunkenness, and constant one-upmanship that turned me off of speaking to him. That, and the constant spew of lies coming from him...

Anyway, I dreamt that my dad gave me a 1968 Cougar - one of my “life goal,” cars - that had an early 90s F-series 300-6 swapped in. With the AOD transmission.

I had to drive it to pick up my wife at Ulta in Gastonia where she was getting her hair done. But the parking lot was different. It was the garage from the old Eastland Mall in Charlotte.

But there she waited. And she wondered why I was driving that car.

I keep having dreams...

My car dreams usually involve stealing cars or suddenly remembering where I parked a car I bought then forgot about.

That front lip is one of the most awful things I have seen on an F355.
