It’s still less appliance-like. And the design is more classical, in the 2000s sense, and not random cuts and lines all over. I also have a vehicle that is more stylish than any new Honda or Toyota in existence.

I don’t see how you can elevate your mass produced car over another. Is there anything you use your Avenger for that a Civic, Elantra, or Malibu owner doesn’t use theirs for? Do you go to work, get groceries, and so on? If a civic owner felt the same way about his car as you do about your Avenger, then what’s the problem?

Civic owners do feel the same way. Everyone, especially Honda and Toyota owners, hate my car for reasoning I cannot quite comprehend (I think it relates to the fact base models are sometimes rental cars). I mean, they do about the same job roughly speaking (Avenger has more head room and trunk room I think, but don’t know for sure. Civic is faster). But the Avenger look is my flavour. And with the civic, there has been some backlash with car enthusiasts that prefer older vehicles. The new civic is just too mixed up, aesthetically. It’s design is random, a little chaotic, and very out of the box.

It would be free, but it would be a commitment. Even if a new distributor fixed it, there’s everything else you already know is KWERKY about it. That said, I did drive it everyday for a few months... But it will be a total ride of purgatory compared to your Accord.

You can’t comprehend why people hate it? It’s probably because the avenger was one of the worst cars in it’s segment and the people who hated it probably drove one as a rental car. The civic and avenger are one in the same when it comes to what it’s being used for. Especially if you go back to the 8th gen civic which existed when your avenger did. There is no way you can call a civic an appliance and not a avenger, especially when an 8th gen civic would be better in everyway. Build quality, comfort, power.... All these things aren’t discriptions of avengers. Though I guess if you think the avenger is more interesting ect. To the civic it’s not up to anyone of us to change your opinion.

I’ve heard that mostly from automotive publishers, but the problem with that is, they don’t test the cars for a long period. They just hop in it, drive it for an hour, and base their opinion off what specifications it has and if its a Honda or Toyota, or something else. If its a Honda, even if its crap, they will rate it high. I was told I would have a laundry list of issues on my Avenger due to very poor reliability. Now a 4 and a half year old car, I have had zero issues with it. I’ve done just oil changes, changed the wipers and air filters, topped up one fluid once, and that’s about it. My friends Mini cooper is almost a year newer and has had way more problems, and about the same mileage. And that car cost over $10,000 more new. So maybe I just lucked out and got a reliable one, but I don’t regret not choosing a 2013 civic.

I still don’t see how an avenger isn’t an appliance? And yes publications only drive the car for a week or two but that doesn’t make up for things you can see in those two weeks, uninspiring lackluster interiors and the limp engine is probably why it was never rated high. Have you thought that maybe Hondas and Toyotas get good reviews because they are good cars rather than saying all publications are biased against the dodge avenger? To me it seems like the whole claim that a Civic and a avenger aren’t both appliances seems to go against what most people buy them for. I still dont see how your avenger is any less an appliance over an 8th gen civic, or literally any other car in it’s class.

Shame they seem like a solid car and at least they stand out. Lower spec Focus are decent cars but they don’t exactly stand out. I think from the front the Civic is quite good looking and the rear isnt as bad as most make out.
