I’ve always liked the Kenworth w900B, of course that’s probably because it was the first matchbox I ever owned. I love those humungous old sleeper trucks.

Those are some very tasteful big rigs.

What happened, Ford?

I love how they have the same greenhouse as a normal Dodge pickup of the time, but then everything else is huge. Gives them a very “hotrod” look.

Sold the heavy truck business to Daimler-Benz and went their separate ways.

I have an Italeri LTL9000 model kit in the closet I’m going to build this winter.

Kinja'd!!!

planning to shorten the frame and build it as a day-cab like a construction/paving company truck. Also, replacing the engine (Italeri always excessively simplified the engine detail which I hate ) with a Revell Cummins NTC 475 2-turbo engine:

Kinja'd!!!

IIRC Ford was one of the few heavy truck manufacturers who didn’t request a custom color for their purchased engines, so I’ll need to find a closer match to Cummins’s “sand beige” they used back then.

They lived on for a while under the Sterling brand, then Daimler pretty much rolled everything into Freightliner.

Those are damn nice.

As modern trucks go, I’m partial to the Volvo VN.

Want to talk about a soup of mismatch parts, ford, daimler, and all their suppliers, total nightmare...
