There’s no punchline or pithy, maudlin platitude to come. They just don’t. This one only has 117k miles but the interior cloth was in pretty bad shape because parked outdoors in the south. We put 079 Dark Charcoal with Slate contrast stitch on it.

The 4.0L V6 in that certainly has the capability to die, depending on model year. Lots of headgasket issues in early years. Some folks have complained of warped blocks, too.

117K is hardly in the “never die” zone. Come back at 389K and that’s a bit better.

Do you guys add heated elements to the seats when doing leather on a car that didn’t originally have it?

This is why I consider Toyotas built in the last 12 years to be,”new”

We do aftermarket heaters all the time. About half the cars we do get them.

They do if they’re in the rust belt.

Are there any good aftermarket kits for vented or cooled seats, or is that really just something best left to the factory? I’ve seen a few but they look cheap and sketchy...

For what it’s worth, I love these posts. The end results always look great. I wouldn’t mind doing a cloth to leather conversion later down the road now that I’ve seen how good they can look.

Keep it up.

The company I work for tried them for about two years and they could never meet the quality standards they set.
