Where would you rate this on the buy scale (going to look at it next Tuesday, definitely not going to pay asking)

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Edit*** Info on the car- front fenders were replaced with new metal and a couple other holes filled, the rest is solid and rust free. Engine and transmission have new seals/gone over, but nothing major have been done (IE full rebuild). All glass/parts and trim are supposedly there. Car needs some prep work (some of the welds need to be ground down) and then paint, then put back together (new top needed).

Do you have the space, time and skill do do all the work? If that’s three times a “yes”, than the answer is: Yes!

Seriously though, I don’t understand the person who made that ad. Could it hurt to add a little bit of extra information? What has been done, what needs to be done, what’s good, what’s bad?

Who will do the bodywork? Would you want a pro paint job or just a 10 footer?

No. Personal rule: Don’t buy anyone else’s project.

Exception: If you intend on parting it out and there is obviously more money in parts than the asking price.

Too many questions. Too scary to yes without lots more info.

Space and time I have, skill I have some of (but also need something to tinker with).

My dad/I would do some of the prep, and he has a guy that does paint work to store a car in my dads garage. I’d obviously need to throw some more on top of it. I’d be going fora 10 footer.

Okay then, maybe? Find out why he’s not able to continue. He put a lot of money into it already. Like to find out if he hit an expensive wall. And yeah, you’re right to not pay asking. It could be fun if you’re up to it.

Check it out and just look for shit repairs and thick filler. If the stuff is done OK, I’d give it a “cautious optimism”

Maybe if it was nearly free, you can do all of the work yourself (including paint), and you want to keep it forever. A good quality paint job will cost the value of a nice completed car. A labor of love.
