After several months of no-start and hundreds of dollars in parts plus hours of wrenching... it appears likely that it was just a $10 chip that takes minutes to install. Chip is ordered, pics of me driving to come next week...

Was gonna make a pithy comment about how chips and a dip go together, but that seems like kicking a brother when he’s down. So I won’t.

How did you find out? And what kind of chips do you find in an engine of that era (I know nothing about how computerized these were)?
