My 66 Custom which we have dubbed Big Six (Valerie to our friends) is now legal with new tires and real plates. She’s ready for a road trip!
We’re headed to Detroit for the long weekend after a drive down the lake Huron coast! This is gonna be fun. I also painted the wheels white because I think it looks great.

She cleaned up pretty nicely. Really needs hubcaps though, at least in my opinion. The typical 66 Galaxie hubcap isn’t unattractive:

I actually don’t think they are ugly :), to me, they fit the design sensibility of 1966.
The first car I drove regularly was a 66 Galaxie, and for some reason, the prior converted it to hubcaps from a few years newer, like this:
Dog dishes would work on a Custom. My dad had a 68 Fairlane with dog dishes, which fit its nearly zero-option status (but it did have a 289).

Random question - if the 66 is your DD, how did you find time to paint the rims? Do you have two sets? Did you take the Datsun instead? :) I wouldn’t mind painting the rims on my Accent sometime....a bit crappier than your 66, but they are a bit beat up so could use at least a coat of paint to give them a spruce-up! :)
