Kinja'd!!!

After the disheartening news that Toyota will not be appearing in Forza 7, it was announced that they will also be absent from Need for Speed: Payback. https://ar12gaming.com/articles/no-toyota-nfs-payback

It seems like Toyota may be pulling a Porsche and keeping their cars in the Gran Turismo games. There have also been rumors that they’re not fans of their cars being modified in games all the time. We’ll see.

WTF!?

Really, Toyota!? Way to win fans outside of Japan... Also, if they are so against people modifying their cars, they should probably let literally everyone who buys their sporty cars know that they should leave them alone.

Do they not care what kind of message this is sending to their customers? Akio-san wants Lexus to be on-par with BMW in terms of performance and luxury, but how dare people be able to modify their cars in video games. Their cars are obviously perfect as they are. !?

Someone needs to go find the bean-counter who approved of this retreat and show them the door.

Including the Toyota brand in a racing video game is like including the Maytag brand. Reliable, boring, and completely inoffensive. Utterly garbage enthusiast cars.

I vow to import a WiLL Cypha and a WiLL Vi when they turn 25. I want them so badly. They’re like the Twingo’s Japanese cousins.

I was just thinking about that. The WiLL is a Japanese Twingo.

There have also been rumors that they’re not fans of their cars being modified in games all the time.

The current CEO of the company is an avid car enthusiast and amateur racer. This rumor is bullshit.

You could literally say the same thing for virtually any other brand that focuses on cheaper, easier to sell cars over sporty cars. Chevy, Honda, acura, infiniti, Nissan, ram, jeep, Subaru, Mitsubishi especially, Opel, Holden, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn... You get the point. Every car company other than exotics ie Ferrari make appliances.

Let us walk through these brands and point out their current cars.

Chevy/GM : Corvette, Camaro, Chevy SS, Holden HSV cars, Cadillac ATS-v and Cts-V

Ford: Mustang, GT, focus St, focus RS, fiesta st, Taurus SHO

Dodge/Jeep: challenger srt hellcat demon, charger srt hellcat, Jeep Grand Cherokee srt and Trackhawk

My point is Toyota hasn’t had a decent enthusiast car since the mid 2000's. The FRS/GT86 is a Subaru, so it doesn’t count.

Toyota doesn’t make an enthusiast vehicle. Literally everyone else does. They have no place in a racing video game.

Lol I like how you mention a bunch of brands not even in my list. Ford has reasons why I didn’t list it. Same for caddy but all those other gm brands that still get into Forza (Pontiac olds Saturn) haven’t made a car in a decade or more, same exact fucking thing as Toyota. And then you mention dodge after I only thru jeep out. Dodge is very different from jeep, jeeps sales come from base model wranglers and crossovers definitely not what you want in a racing game, but they make a good car or two that gets in. Your argument is invalid by saying a car must be new to get into the game or the company must make enthusiast cars to get in. Kia gets in there is no reason why Toyota shouldnt.

Sure, you can be a Mopar enthusiast or a Subaru Enthusiast, even Kia is starting a performance brand. But Toyota, hasn’t built a car that anyone can get excited about for the past 15 years. At least Honda and Nissan bother to make at least one performance minded car or variation on that car. Toyota is the worst. Today, build really reliable, boring, cars for boring people. From the 80's to the mid 2000's they build some great ground breaking cars. They abandoned what they were, and abandoned an chunk of their market in enthusiasts. Now Whirlpool makes more exciting products than Toyota.

Say it with me:

YOU ARE NOT THE APEX OF CAR ENTHUSIASTS

Again, there are plenty of current Toyota enthusiasts around here, myself included. Are you saying we aren’t proper car enthusiasts? Hell, I’m willing to bet a V6 Camry has more muscle under the hood than a V6 Camaro.

Lexus. People can get excited for Lexus. This whole thing is silly and you know it, the old Toyota’s have as much right to be in the game as any new car. When the car was made doesnt matter if they make enthusiast cars then they should be in games.

Yes, That is a correct statement: Fans of the current Toyota car line up aren’t proper car enthusiasts. You included.

I like some classic Toyota vehicles. I think the Mark III Supra and 2nd Gen MR2 are pretty awesome as well as the AE86. But since the MR2 was discontinued, there is very little in the way of performance, originality, or fun coming from Toyota. It’s worse than 1988-1996 GM, because at least you still had the Camaro and Corvette.

And no the 2018 Camry V6 makes 301, the 2017 Camaro V6 makes 335 hp, If you’re going to try to drag me at least be factual about it.

What’s my line again? “Reeee!!” Is that it?

Sorry, bud. I’ll leave and make room for more them Sweet, Sweet Trav boyes.

You’re making these ridiculous statements to validate and thus invalidate my earlier claims. Just because you don’t get excited about Toyota’s current offerings doesn’t mean no one else does. I’d rather own a Toyota over any Chevrolet, and no question would I own a Lexus over a Cadillac.

Enthusiasts who shit on other enthusiasts are not proper enthusiasts.  You included . You remind me of a kid I knew in high school. He would not shut the fuck up about his precious Fords.
