I got back from a short break in France yesterday. Completely forgot that I ran over an upturned soil rake last Friday. Good morning neighbours!

Welcome back from the continent.

“I ran over an upturned soil rake”

Comical images ran through my head reading that.

How do you like those tires? Nexen tires seem like a good bang for the buck. I’ve never known anyone running them though.

These Roadian MTs are excellent off road tyres, not bad on the road, a bit noisy. Plenty of grip in the dry, fantastic across mud and rocky ground, even good in heavy wet, but on slick surfaces I can lock up fairly easily with them. They are now unfortunately discontinued. I also have some General Grabber AT2s which I use as winter/wet tyres which are good, and some General Grabber TRs which seem to be bloody awful on anything but dry pavement.

I don’t have a spare Nexen now, I really hate running without a spare and they’re really hard to get hold of :(

Morning mate. Glad to be back. I feel guilty not doing graft at this time of year!

Sometimes you’ve got to make time for yourself mate, nobody else will do it for you.

As long as you had fun and enjoyed your time away then it’s worth it.

That size is discontinued or the MT? I can still get the MTs here. MTs are terrible in the wet. I’ll never understand why people run them on their brodozers. Snow and Mud? Sure. They wear like crazy on pavement.

General ticked me off by killing the Grabber AP back in the 90s (beast of a tire!) They’ve been a BFG mimeograph since. I’m sure the AT2 is good but it looks like a BFG A/T from the 1980s.

They just put Kenda Klevers and Cooper STTs on our snow trucks at work. I’m hoping for an early, snowy winter.

The Grabber AT2's wear fast on my Ram, I have gone back to BFG TA/KO which I used to run on my Wranglers. My brother swears by the Yokohama Geolander on his truck which is used for Construction, Masonry and Snow Plowing. He has about 400k on the truck currently and he is getting 60k+ per set.

That sucks man, hopefully you can patch it?

Hope you enjoyed your time off.

I think the whole tyre is discontinued, definitely can’t find any in 238/85r16 though.

AT2 is somehow brilliant in the snow. I’m assuming because of all the sip-like slices across the tread, but however; they’re brilliant winter tyres.

I’ve never had Coopers, which ones could you recommend for 75% road use, 25% off-road mainly mud, stoney ground and grass? Available in 235/85 or 265/75r16

I think it’s as dead as a dead thing. I re-inflated it this morning and the amount of air coming out was enormous. Pretty much fully deflated again in less than a minute! I would propose it to government that it’s a very cost effective spike strip, saving the police force thousands of pounds, and it comes on a handy stick.

Ah, but the government will have to buy super duper rakes at £1000 a pop and then the stick will only sometimes come with the rake head.

Good god. You’re right. And I didn’t think about the human cost of upturned rakes either.

My only General experience is with the discontinued Grabber AP. The AT2 just reminds me of old tread BFG A/Ts. I’m a huge fan of the BFG A/T and Bridgestone AT Revo 2. For the money you can’t get better. I have used Falken Rocky Mountains on Crusty now and haven’t been too disappointed. The TTB front end means tires won’t last no matter what you do.

The only two tires I recommend are BFG A/T or Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2. The Revos are funny. They look like an all season but they actually work off road.

My Crusty F150 is getting replaced soon (hopefully) and I’ve already budgeted for a set of BFGs.
