Kinja'd!!!

I will be traveling to Belgium and the Netherlands in a week and am looking for any recommendations for great driving roads/ offbeat attractions. I’ll be staying near Spa for 3 days then near Amsterdam for 3 days. Thanks.

We had an Oppo meet at Spa last March, with about 19 attendees. Note that the Nürburgring is a 70 miles drive away and the roads in between can be very fun to drive. If you’re interested I can find out which (scenic) route we took. Visit the website of the ‘ring to find out if it’s open and if/when you can drive it. If it interests you, you can include some speed unrestricted German Autobahn to that trip.

The Netherlands, meh. From a driving road perspective that is. It’s utterly flat and overpopulated. And this is coming from a Dutchman. Maybe someone else has some tips.

Oh man, you JUST MISSED THE RACE.

I was in London this year the weekend of the F1 race to catch up with old friends. Flight out was 2pm on Sunday. Had to see the friends Friday into Saturday. Saw zero F1 that weekend. I botched that one.

I’m jumping in to see the suggestions since I’ll be in the area in about 2 months as well.

I dont know where you’ll be around Amsterdam, but there is supposed to be a decent driving road somewhere in between Schiphol and Hoofddorp. Its a secondary road, so I’d hit it between 11:00 and 14:00, or after 19:00. I dont exactly know what road it is, but a couple of friends of mine had driven it before and stated that its supposed to be decent (notice I keep saying ‘decent’...).

The thing is, Holland, in general, doesn’t have proper driving roads. I mean, we do have a couple that are nice, but we lack in the hills/mountains/crests/s-curve/anything that makes driving exciting department, so there’s that.

Thanks, I’ll have to save anything in Germany for another trip. Driving at Spa should be good enough.

I intentionally skipped the F1 race so I could drive at Spa myself. I would love to see the classics race there though.
