So a friend linked me a for sale post on Facebook (warning flag #1) of 18' HFP wheels for sale. The ad is for 18x7 HFP wheels with tires for $350, the catch is one wheel is ‘slightly bent’. Okay, I message the guy anyway cause even for $350 that’s a steal and I have a guy who can fix wheels for cheapish. His reply is “one wheel has a small crack.” Hm...that’s not a ‘slight bend’ (warning flag #2). It’s okay though, I message him and ask for a picture of this ‘small crack’ so I can get an idea of what he’s really talking about.

His response? “Im not sure which one it is tbh now that they’ve been off the car for 2 months.”

I really want the wheels, but he’s over an hour away from me and I’m not about to drive down to find out this ‘small crack’ could be the size of the Mid Atlantic Ridge. I can’t with people....

Sometimes buying from idiots can be a great way to get a good deal... But mostly it’s just a headache that’s better off avoided.

Too lazy to LOOK at the item he’s selling. That one’s new

About a week ago I find some rims at $100 for all four.

Warning #1) Been for sale for a month.

#2) For sale in the car and truck section not the tire section

#3) No idea what the brand was, offset, and told me the wrong width.

I show up and he tells me how ones cracked. I ended up buying them anyway for $50 because I may have use for them, but it was similar Craigslist bs

I think it is more likely he knows very well which one has the “small crack”, and knows if he shows a photo of just how massive it actually is, that any potential buyer will be scared off. He’s hoping once someone makes the trip out to see them in person, they won’t want to leave empty handed and will take whatever they find.

A small bend in a wheel I’d be willing to consider for the right price. I’d be too afraid even a tiny crack would spread with use.
