To be fair, when I get a custom plate for my C453 it’s going to say “DUMBCAR” or “PHIL”, to match the car’s name..

$150 to customize a Washington plate? If so, that’s not a smart purchase.

I like to think that somewhere out there exists a Smart with a license plate that reads MAXWELL.

Oh god! I could totally do that! Just do the chassis code of each car with “hp” on the end!

Just because he says it doesn’t make it true.

If I ever owned a Smart car, I’d name it “Fredo”.

This is a basic plate, so it was $84.75. It’s also a one-time fee in WA, if I’m not mistaken.

It’s $124.75 for a special design plate.

If I owned a Smart, could I get a vanity plate that would read “IMWSTPD”?

So why the name Phil?

When I got that smart, I had the realization I was entering an endless cycle of obtaining smarts. So I named it after Phil (Which one? Doesn’t matter! lol) from Groundhog Day.

Tucker (my first smart) was named after Preston Tucker, my biggest hero through childhood and teenage years. I worked to the bone and fought myself and all obstacles to get that car and to where I am today. I felt it symbolic.

Chelsea (the latest smart) was named after Chelsea Manning. No direct symbolic connection other than I joked to a friend “this car is free like Chelsea Manning free”. And well, I’m not sure why she was my first thought when I saw the red panel colour. ¯\_()_/¯

Cool,:) I never really liked Tuckers till I watched a show and read more about them online and saw one cross the block during one of the Barrett Jackson classic car auctions. It went for big $$$$.
