Sure it’s only $7.50, but thats more than had I just gotten a ticket for not paying for parking. The dumb lot has a rule that you can’t back into spots. But as I was driving through one spot into another at about 9pm last night, that didn’t cross my mind. I could have bought beer with that $7.50

Can’t BACK IN??????????????? Backing in is the only way to go (unless you can find a pull-through spot, which accomplishes the same thing). Way safer.

Seriously, a campus full of terrible college drivers/parkers, and I get a ticket for parking well. Its sorta a tight lot so if everyone backed in, manuvering it would be much easier.

If the statute is worded that you can’t “back” into a spot, then you could argue that you never backed in. You pulled through. Not worth it in my opinion.

I just imagined it had something to do with being able to easily, consistently read plates. I’d imagine it’s a common rule/law where no front plates are required, but I could be wrong.

WHAT? Parking violation for reversing into a parking space?
But then again your in a country where some can’t park outside the front of their house on the street, some places where when you do park on the street, it has to be in the direction of travel for that side of the road, etc...
What’s crazy is surely it’s more hazardous to reverse out of a parking space than to reverse into a space and pull out a space forwards.

I don’t like backing out of spots, especially with people who drive giant SUVs and are completely distracted.

I used to park next to a lady whose kids dinged the absolute crap out of my doors. These were spaces perpendicular to the road, so you either had to back into traffic or back in from the road. I chose to back in.
One day I asked her to have her kids be more careful about how they opened their doors. Her response? “If you didn’t back into your space, there would be more room. It’s illegal to back in anyway.”
Somehow the direction my car is facing makes it larger or smaller? Who knows.

The underground lot at one of my client offices has a “garage meister” that will ticket folks for parking over the line, sneeze the wrong direction, etc. My client gave me the heads up in advance so at least I have been able to avoid getting nailed...
