think of it as the difference between yelling into a comletely empty, clean number 10 coffee can, vs yelling into that can, but with a fabric/towel liner inside........ the soot mellows the sound a lot, by getting rid of the tinney echo......

not exactly......you hear the cool lope of the cam, and the overlap events, but it has lost the tinney echo of all the clicking valves opening and closing.........

like the differnce between a brand new trumpet, vs an old dirty trumpet, with a mute.......
