I’ve seen people start to do it, but I can’t remember ever seeing anyone follow through.
The most bizarre thing is, there’s no way they didn’t notice their screwups. Both got vigorously honked at. And yet it occurred to neither that they should hurry up and get out of the way. Both continued to drag their asses.

I’ve seen a lot of people run red lights because they were half focused and they saw a green arrow light up and it cued their minds to go... even though it was straight.

Rant coming brace yourself.
I left class last night, around 9:45. It was dark, late at night and an accident occurred on the highway. Both edges had fire trucks blocking the outer lane. 5 lanes wide during normal traffic. I use the onramp to get onto the highway. This particular onramp turns into a lane. Traffic slows because of flashing lights ahead. I stay in my lane and it ends up being blocked by the fire truck. No worries, I’ll just cruise with traffic - 5-10mph - until closer, put on my blinker and merge over. Like a normal damn human being. Buttt nooooo. Can’t be normal. I am spaced between two cars, blinker on edging over about 300 ft from the fire truck. Nope! Not getting in. Clown closes up on the car in front. Fine. Asshole. Next guy does the same thing even though I’ve had my blinker on for over a minute, we are getting closer and I’ve been moving my truck over to get out of my lane.
Finally stick a portion of my nose in and proceeds to blind the hell out of me with a freaking strobe light. Guy had a strobe light in his car or one wired up. Strobes me for a solid 20-30 seconds just as I get into his lane and as I’m passing the accident scene. Lets make a bad situation more dangerous because he absolutely needed the 20 feet of space I was occupying.
Stupid people.
