Kinja'd!!!

Since I finished my roll bar install at 1230am, I didnt have time to take any daylight pictures. So here is my photo dump once I got some daylight and time to wash the car. Roll bar is a Boss Frog Clearview Max and it fits perfectly in the car. The top clears it like it wasnt even there and the seat belts are only a little annoying to use. Very happy with the results!

Are you staying with the stock belts or will there be a harness bar and harness in the future?

I want to keep the stock belts for the street and 6 point harness for autocross and track. Ideally with this bar, I can use the vertical hoop bar for the harness without needing a dedicated bar since it was designed for that. Its hard to find boss frog bolt in bars since they arent made anymore. Plus I dont want to if I dont have to.

But yeah nice harnesses are a definite in the future.

Every Miata looks better with a roll bar! Haha some questionable tail lights though.

Unfinished Garage Vary tail lights in that shot. The stockers were cracked, and these were an impulse buy. A finished set would look like this.

That was my plan, but after a good amount of track time in an NB with Schroth 4-points... I’m kinda leaning towards them. They were incredibly comfortable, easy to get on, off and adjusted quickly, and can take sub straps to convert to 6-points without a lot of work.

For the stock belts, did you reposition the seatbelt assembly a few degrees to get a smoother retract? I skipped that step and don’t want to remove the whole bar to get to it... But I’ve heard it makes the seatbelts retract almost exactly like stock

It was way easier than I thought to put in and second hand these are affordable. Didnt even need the top up to drill any of the holes so other than lining up the seat belt tower bolts, it was easy.

I will be getting 6 points since like every track bans 4 points. Even autocross generally bans 4 point harnesses. And a 5 point has to bolt in right in the middle of a frame rail. 6 points are much easier to install. Comfort be damned since I plan to keep the stock belts for street driving.

I have the adapter from Boss Frog which is supposed to make it retract better but that thing is a wet noodle that only goes back in if I feed it. Its not too annoying and the passenger side one is far better. Maybe I can adjust the angle to improve it? But I think the roll bar support being in the way and then curving around my seat makes it impossible to really fix.

Yeah that style just isnt me, something so strange about it. But I could see where they are going with that. Youve got some nice padding on your bar, just some standard SFI stuff cut to fit?

Yep, I bought the padding and cover from Boss Frog as well.
