About 20 years ago my wife and I took a trip to Denmark. The hotel keeper at one of our hotels had a parrot that spoke German. No reason why it shouldn’t, but it was a bit of a surprise nonetheless.

My ex girlfriend bought a parrot, after three weeks of it not saying anything, she took it back to the pet shop.

The pet shop worker asked why she was bringing it back. My ex said, ‘I’ve had it three weeks and it’s never said a word’. The pet shop worker looked at the parrot and said, ‘is that true’. The parrot replied, ‘yes it’s true, only because I couldn’t get a word in’.
